All protege's are the same exhaust wise (exept the 5 there shorter) dont worry about it being 99-00 anything will work regardless of engine.

I do like the sound of my msp exhaust though.

hks as far as i know only makes the axle back for the p5. it's overpriced, i think. as for me, i'm partial to the racing beat. it's a little on the heavy side, but it's overbuilt and sounds so sexy. well worth the $450. let me know if you need a link to get it. i think they're still going for $450 shipped.

You are correct--axle-back/P5 only. Too bad, it's a nice-sounding little exhaust.
I agree, the RB is nice--lots of people seem to like the Magnaflow too, which I'm pretty sure is 250-300.00

yeah, the magnaflow sounds real good... however, if you hold the rb exhaust next to a magnaflow unit, you'll wonder where the rest of the exhaust is. the thickness of the pipes with the magnaflow compared to the racing beat is like paper vs. cardboard. and i'm also not a big fan of the slip fit flanges. but otherwise, the magnaflow is a really good unit. the sound is comparable to the racing beat, just a bit louder and can get a little raspier in comparison.

yeah upon further looking im very sad that the hks is only for the p5 cuz it sounds sweet...

ive looked at the racing beat and magnaflow, i also looked at greddy and they seemed to be a little overpriced but high quality...im trying to get a used mazdaspeed exhaust from this kid that has like 50,000 miles on it...is that too high miles for the exhaust? im not really sure what the best option is, but i do like the way the racing beat sounds

if you are getting the evo, make sure you're getting the newer batches where the pipes are also SS. before, the pipes were mild steel and only the canister/muffler part was stainless. the mazdaspeed exhaust would be fine.

I would like to get my hands on a mazdaspeed exhaust but recently I've been wondering if it would fit. I have a Familia. Do you guys know if everyting would line up correctly, I'm not up to par on exhausts.

yeah i dont think it would be different at all... oh and anyone in PA have problems passing the emissions test having a catback exhaust? cuz right now im highly considering the corksport catback, and it eliminates the second cat, not sure how much that effects emission

Oh, I forgot you have the 1.5L engine. That might be a problem.
Any way you can get the car on a lift and take pics?
