Yeah. That is why you need a trusted mechanic to properly diagnose the problem.

Can you swap the MAF with a friend and see if the problem gets suddenly better? It is an easy swap - no more than ten minutes with a screwdriver...

Oh, and the cam and crank sensors are coils which detect the magnet passing by induction. So they can (and do) fail. But i agree - not that often in a good design.

ok well the thing is, apparently they go bad in Trinidad because almost everyone I talked to said that they do go bad and they will need changing after a while.

i got the parts and the mechanic changed them out and i also had to change my coil packs because after he changed the cam and crank sensors he ran a diagnostics on it and coil pack number 2 came up bad. i bought and replaced the both of them though since it's only a matter of time before the 1st one goes.

and Da P-Funk!, i did mention that i changed out the maf sensor with a friend's and it was still workin' horribly! so i knew then that it wasn't the maf sensor.

Oop! I missed that - sorry.

Sensors AND the coil pack? (Methinks it was just the coil packs) To test the old sensors (if you still have them) put a multi-meter and measure resistance across them.

Is it running well now?

yes i still have the old sensors and i'd have to get a multi-meter to test it.

and yes, it's workin' fine so far. i was thinkin' the same darn thing, that maybe it was just the coil packs and not the sensors.

I guess I should have called them electro-magnets. My bad.

What year/engine do you have? I'll try and find the resistance readings.
