Question Magnetic Bra or Deflector?

I drive on the highway a lot and am starting to get a few chips here and there. The paint is rather thin i think and one little chip and you can see the black underneath the yellow paint. I 'm considering getting some sort of protection.

Magnetic bra: Does it look good on the car? What about washing the car underneath the bra? Do you notice a faded difference in the paint after the bra has been on for awhile? Ie: paint on non bra areas vs paint underneath the bra after it's been taken off.

Hood deflector? : There such a thing for our cars? Is it easy to wash clean how easy to take off put on?

Which one would you guys go for? Or should i not get either and just drive really slow with lotsa room with the cars in front?

Magnetic Bra : they look okay...but you are only talking about protecting the front/leading edge of the hood. You don't have to leave it on ALL the time...just put it on when you are expecting to be doing highway driving, but I guess if you do that EVERY day...well there ya go. BUT, What about the ENTIRE front of the car?

Hood Deflector : I am told and have heard and even seen somewhere....a deflector for our cars....I didn't care for the way it looked personally.

Last but not least.....I am going to get the FULL BRA from Mazda for our cars....and just make sure I take it off EVERY time the car gets washed....NOT leave it on ALL the time.....and do the best I can to keep the car looking as good as possible.

I thought about this same thing.

When I do take my long trips on the highway would like something to protect the hood.

I personaly am deciding to go with the hood deflector. There is one for our cars but only place I've found them is ebay. Seem to be easy to put on take off. These also protect a little more then the front edge of the hood like Sir Nuke said. I think the deflector looks fine and stylish and the bra looks ugly but of course it's personal opinion.

Question

I am interested in getting the hood deflector. I have only seen those in the Vancouver area. I live in the Bay Area. Where can I get one of those? Any online sources? I have been searching online for a while but no result.

Get the magna bra! I love mine. Lots of people complement it (as well as my car). They say "Did you install that yourself?" I have to explain that is a huge magnet, and its easy to take on/off (once you get it in place to fit your car). I havent noticed any change in color of the paint. I say that 90% of the chips show up on the front of the hood, where the magna bra protects. Sure you will get some dings on your bumper, but the bumper is not metal, so you dont have to worry about rust (just touch it up with paint). I have seen the hood deflectors. I think they look cheesy, imo. The full bras from Mazda takes away from the stylish looks of the P5, imo. Just my 2 cents.

P.S. I purchased my magna bra off of ebay for $30 bucks. The same guy who makes the magna bra sells them on ebay (to make extra money). Check out ebay first, then goto http://www.magnetbra.com/

I have the magent bra too. I have to say I love it and after doing some highway driving with it for a few months I can see it has saved at least a half dozen nasty chips.

Once you get it formed right it's a piece of cake to take off and put back on. I would reccomend to use a heat gun to get it formed correctly the first time.

I'm kinda kicking myself now though, I've been noticing a lot of chips in the front nose of my car. I'm thinking I should have went with the full bra, but those are such a pain in the a$$ to take off and put back on.

You should also check with Mitch at protege5online.com, that's where I got mine from. He actually gave me a better deal than from magnetbra (because he buys bulk).

Hrmm i guess it's either the magnabra or the full bra, but i like to wash my car fairly often, like every week and people say the full bra is a pain to take off..so i guess i'll have to go check out the magna bras..

Racer91,

So, Mazda dealers in Canada carry the hood deflector? Is it a original Mazda accessory? I wonder if dealers in US carry them also. I guess I should give them a call.

Didnt you say in another thread that you got your seat covers at Walmart? If so, I went to a couple of Walmarts around here with no luck. If not, where did you get them? Who makes them? Thanks

I have the deflector and it is great. I like the way it looks on the black car. Anyways, i got mine from the Mazda dealer. One advantage, though small, is that it can take a larger hit and not even show a dent. I had a really large stone off a semi hit it (luck) and no worries.
