What's this about a shift point reprogram? R u talking about the manumatic? Or the autos? How much does it cost? What performance gains will I see? This shifting in the auto is really bad... Whenever I take it to red line at WOT, if kinda clunks into the next gear, kinda with a mild jolt. It's rather unpleasant, and I'm scared that it's hurting the tranny and the engine.

Your engine is fine, other than the riding on the redline part. The jolt is from the TC jumping in and out of gears, it feels the opposite of a cluched shift right?

Warning to sensitive readers: Rant ahead!

Eating, reading, and talking on cell phones are not things one should do while driving. Most traffic accidents involve some kind of distraction from these types of activities. Hang up the phone, put down the burger and drive the damn car! (and get the hell out of my way while your at it!)

And a stick in 5th doesn't get in the way......Besides my g/f likes my **** - (momo all the way).

all you auto people who think that manumatics are "just as good" are a bunch of idiots. 85% of people drive automatics because 85% of people are lazy sheep. Hell, 85% of people never go outside, are overweight, can't drive for ****, and spend 7 hours a day watching TV. Do you really want to associate yourself with the masses? Manumatics weigh more, shift like crap, still only have 4 gears, and still lose power in the slush box. Any self-respecting enthusiast would buy a stick. If they dont have the stick in stock in the right color, BUY IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.

End Rant.

yea, so does that mean that there's nothing wrong with using my auto gear box like a manual? would it be the same as the manumatic? or is there any diff between the manumatic and the auto?

Ok most of you are all wrong like Scarmiglio, I am not a lazy driver!! I had and manual and the wife wanted a auto,so I traded for the sportmatic that drives as good as my manual. If you think i'm full of BS then tell my why Indy cars all use a sportmatic trany yes they are autos not manuals?
and to rednecks_r_us, p5 means 5 door HELLO! its a wagon! I am not trying to be an *** but please people thing befor you write! If your shifting a true auto like a manual then your and idiot! going from low to 2nd to drive is not like a manual!! but with the sportmatic you start in 1st you can go to the redline or shift when you like to 2nd then 3rd and then 4th and to pass a car at 60mph droping my sportmatic to 3rd jumps me up to 80 them back into 4th gear I go. I think you all should just go test drive one just to see what its like. It truly is fun to drive! plus if you do feel lazy and we all do from time to time then you just slide the stick over to drive and let the car do the work! Later

i agree completely but i must add

you say 85% of people drive autos because they are lazy sheep...note that autos have a 15% power loss that manuals dont so those 85% of people are driving with only 85% of the cars power...

hehe sorry thought that was odd and appropriate (i love how people buy like 350ZXs in auto and lose 50HP just so they can have a damn auto...personally i think everyone should be REQUIRED to drive sticks because it forces you to concentrate more on driving and it makes you a better driver...why do you think there are less accidents in europe...because they dont even know what an automatic is)

autooooooooooooooooooo maticccccccccccccccccccc stick is for sissys. he's right about the sport shift .. just like an indy car..
look i drive both stick and auto.. im just experimenting with the sportmatic.. A good friend of mine is going to try to map out the autos program so he can re program the shift points.. there is a sort of pause when shifting ,so if he can shorten the pause than maybe our autos will chirp like a stick .. wouldn't this be nice.......
well i'll keep you guys informed as our test go on..

Gotta drive a manual, can't hang in the right rpms for best control with an automatic. Not even those fancy almost manuals work too well, though better than an automatic.

However, for a lot of stop-n-go, autos save a lot of work, and cramping in 3 hours of stop-n-go on the 405 in LA

You're a long way from the 405, according to your location info. lol

It's what the Air Force does to you

Wanna go back! 4 lanes + are much better to move through, these 2 and 3 laners are to constricting. And there's only 1 interstate!
