May have fixed door rattle!
It aint the prettiest fix, but I think it works so far. Like many owners I had a very annoying "tick tick, tick tick tick, tick tick" noise in my driver side door when driving along. It didn't only happen on bumps and was very annoying. Happened most often when the moonroof was open, or when turning left. If I put even the smallest pressure on the door panel it would stop.
Spent today trying to track it down. I thought I had found it twice, one with a piece of the backing making a noise when I pressed it, and another when I found one of the plastic locating pins to make a noise when I moved it. I stopped both, but the noise remained! Then I got fed up. I thought that perhaps the noise was the two styrofoam pads touching the plastic water barrier. So I took a detailing towel I had laying around and layed it over those pieces on the inside of the door panel. Put the door panel on and the pressure kept it in place. Buttoned it back and and took a test drive. I think it's gone! I am going to take a longer drive tonight to be sure.
Here is a picture of the location I placed the towel on the back of the door panel.

Well you were right to be cautious. Turns out that didn't fix the problem, but it did make it less severe. I spent some more time trying stuff and I do not think it is something internal to the door. I believe it is either the door panel touching something, the door jam plastic trim which covers the seatbelt reel between the front and rear doors (I was able to make this make the exact sound, but haven't figured a way to try a fix yet) or some combination.

I tried silicone spray everywhere...even on the inner side of the door panel but it didn't help. Also I "rainned" WD-40 from the top between the door sheelmetal so it soaked the lock latch. Still no help.
I forgot to mention in my last post that I think it has nothing to do with the door panel. I tried to drive around with the panel detached and it still makes the tick sound. I also took the panel off, shut the door then push the black window frame from the outside and I can hear the ticking sound. Might be a defective weld somewhere?

Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, it's not really a squeek or rattle really, it's more of a tick tick sound, like tapping a pen on the table or something.
It sounds like it is coming from the very rear of the door, perhaps in the latch area? I guess the next step is to try removing all the plastic trim from the car and driving it.
I would take it to the dealer if I knew what it was...just know they'd say "well we can't find anything wrong" and it would be a big pain.

sounds like the same thing that i have going on. i thought it was the door panel, cause i could push on it and it seemed to stop. however i eventually found out that its the little change thing down next to the fog light switch. it is just loose enough to allow it do make clicking noises when your driving. annyong as crap, and as of yet ive not tried to fix it, but i know thats what it is, cause i can grab it and it stops.
now if only i could figure out why the small window in the back passengers door rattles, i would have every rattle in my car fixed that has happened so far.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am quite sure it's coming from the rear of the door area. Oddly enough it hasn't occured the last couple days loud enough for me to notice it. Perhaps I somehow quieted it enough to make it more tolerable?

Or turned up the air conditioning to block out the noise (especially with the weather we are having here in washington). I might take a look into trying out everyones suggestions...the rattle is making me go nuts...

I had a similar problem with my Hyundai Elantra a few weeks ago. From the time I bought it there was a rattle in the passenger side door any time I had the tunes turned up. It turned out that the bass was causing the side impact sensor to rattle.
My soulution was to take the door panel off than, because I work at a carpet store I got some carpet pad and made a templete for the inside of the door. Making sure to cutt hole for where screws and other necessary hole were. I than used some construction adhesive to glue the pad to the inside of the door. I put it all back together and no more rattling. This only took about twenty minutes and not trip to the dealer. I just might end up doing it to all the doors, because I noticed that the car was a lot less road noise from that side of the car.

I think it's the door lock tab that doesnt sit flush when the door is locked. I know that when sometimes im driving, i hear a tick tick tick tick constantly so i pulled the lock towards me a little and the ticking goes away but as soon as i let go, it comes back so im thinking it's the tab vibrating and hitting against the cover where it comes out of

Alright so maybe this is a far stretch as an answer to your ticking sound. I had something similar a while back that sounded like a tick toward the rear of the door, down by the bottom next to the driver's seat. Turns out there is a little thick piece of tape on the seatbelt that was a restraint system warning tag (i think that's what it is). When I had the windows open or the vents blowing, this thing would flap flap flap and make the most annoying sound. So I know this is nothing internal to the door but check it out... maybe tape it up or something so it can't flap around. Like I said, maybe it's a far stretch. But at 6'2" I think my arms are long enough Lemme know if you fix it!
