Check out my thread which is now just above yours on the list. Basically, this seems to be the Racing Beat exhaust from the MP3 made to fit the standard sedan and MP5 models. It is ONLY a muffler, it is not a cat back exhaust. Those that own one tell me it is a bit deeper in tone than the stock exhaust. Not a lot louder, but it is more noticeable at higher RPMs. It is not so loud that you think you have to turn up the radio to cover it though. It's not one of those high pitched bunning hornet exhausts. I've been searching for a muffler for my 2002 S that would be like my 944's sound. This one seems to be where I'm going. The cost is good, the dealer may work on price and if not, ask your salesman you got the car form for the 10% coupon that should have come with the car. It's a direct replacement so no cutting or fabricating is needed. Since it's from Racing Beat it's a quality piece as well. You can go to RacingBeat.com and see their full cat back system but it's a good bit more money. The sport exhaust may not add much in the way of HP but truth be told, none of the systems really make that much difference anyway. If someone thinks they can tell and feel the difference in 8 or so hp that a great exhaust would give, they are either deluding themselves or are liars.

Direct replacement. You simply unbolt the existing facory muffler with the tip attached and install the new sport muffler with tip attached. Everything is a direct replacement. The only question I had for my dealer was if the muffler included a new gasket or if the connection is gasketless. I haven't gone under the car to see myself. I've only had it a week now.

Angry Still Waiting

I've ordered mine from Mazdastuff and I'm still waiting for it. They say it's backordered. I should have it by the end of next week, hopefully.

Does the P5 system have Racing Beat on the tip ?

Talking Picture of my sport exhaust

Here it is....took all of 10 minutes to install!

It has "MAZDASPEED" Etched into the side, you can't see it in this pic.

Sounds nice, louder than the stock, but a nice low rumble.....

How about highway driving? Is the noise unbearable if you drive 2+ hrs with it? I would like to get this, but I don't want to get a headache after going on a long trip.

sorry about the picture...oops. i'll fix it when i can get it onto the net.

Anyways, as far as highway driving goes, unless you're up around 5K it's not bad. Typically in 5th gear going 75 or so it's fine.
