Question moisture in headlight lens

Just picked up my new red P5 last night from the dealer. YAHOOOO!! All seems well except that I noticed a bit of moisture fog on the lens for the headlight on one side. Pointed it out to the dealer and he said that they are not perfectly sealed so some moisture could get in from the bulb connection. He said that they will replace the light when I bring it in for service. Are the lights supposed to be fully sealed with o-rings and such??? Did dry out on my ride home with lights on. Will check it again today. Any input?? BTW I love the amount of light that these lights throw out. Is ten times better than my 91 protege was.

Thanks for the replies,

lucky one

The headlight design is the same on the '01+ Protege sedan and the P5, so that shouldn't matter. I haven't ever gotten any moisture in my headlights either. There should be a rubber O ring on the socket for the bulb that plugs into the headlight housing. It should be airtight. I'd have the dealer replace it.

I haven't found a problem with my front lights ,but my rear passenger side lights are almost completely fogged over.I got the same response from the dealer,"we will order a new one for you". I am not surprised though the car is still too new for them to keep anything non-mechanical in stock.

Mine was in an accident and so the headlights were replaced. Somehow in installation or shipping they borke the seals in both headlights. Both of them are now fogging up. They are giving me new headlights on Wednesday of next week.

I just remembered, I had both of mine replaced also. I'll double check them, but I still don't remember seeing any moisture in them.

Typical

Right after I posted I went to wash mine and noticed that there was fog in the fog lights(no droplets though thank god)and now the other tail is doing it!!!!.If anyone posts about their tranny falling out or something else of major proportions, please post it with a "zulu don't read this!!" header.Everytime I find a post about a problem I seem to end up with that problem or something similar.

Just let the dealer worry about it for now. Its thier problem if warranty hasn't ran out. hell just look for a recall on them soon

Yup this one is stil under warranty and the dealer noted it in his file so when I take it in they will replace the light. They should be replacing the whole assembly or just the bulb??? Car is two days old now with 400 miles on it. Having a blast with it in the corners.

Thanks for the replies

Need to replace the entire assembly. It's the seal around the headlight housing that's broken. It wouldn't be the rubber seal around the bulb.

just wanted to throw my hat in the ring too!!

My P5 was one day old and I noticed moisture in the front driver headlight too!!

GRRR!!!! Are they using cheap seals or what!??!?

When my moonroof deflector comes in (backordered) i'm going to get them to do the headlights as well (or at least make note of it)
