Motor mounts
My 2001 ES 2.0 "GT" has always had a "rubbery" drivetrain. It seems to me the mounts are too soft and it rubber bands in traffic situations. Several dealers suggest it' s normal.
I talked to the MP3 designers about the mounts used in that car and they say stock mounts are used.
Anybody else have this problem?
Another issue is with the severe engine rattle on cold start blamed on an emissions computer prompt to advance timing when cold. It sounds like a diesel or a car with bad rod bearings for 2-3 minutes. Mazda Canada insists there is a fix coming in a new program for the computer.
Dealers say "they all do that" .
True?

Mine actually did that last night (around 45 deg.) I almost freaked out cause it sounded like there was no oil or something. Makes sense I guess...
(I have no clue on the mounts... my car seems rock solid although I havent taken it over 4000 rpm)

solid mounts
depending on if you fill the mounts or use polyurethane mounts, it will transfer vibration more, but as im experiencing, shifting is smoother and more precise as well as very little to no wheel hop upon hard launches such as in racing. the car seems to put the power to the ground quicker and more efficently. I used a new type of rubber adheasive to fill my mounts and im seeing the best of both worlds so far
