It's not the worst idea to finance a vehicle for 5-years. However to go back on-topic, the monthly payments on the MSP are way nasty. You're not even factoring insurance, operating costs, fuel and potential "unknown" factors.

I am leaning on a MSP because of what my cow-orkers are telling me, "Will, you're always wanting to do this kind of stuff to your car, and you can get it stock. It's a nice ride, and you're getting a raise and a promotion."
I am getting a raise this week, and a promotion this fall. The promotion will get me $12+ and hour while I am in college... If I take it.
SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT, MY HEAD IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE.

This is something to think about. With $4000 down, and $360/month that is pretty much the same as no money down and $400/month which you do not want to spend.
On the otherhand the MSP has a lot that for the money. I mean just the suspension, wheels, and LSD are worth fat cash. Tough choice though. I can never decided whether I should just keep my car, and make the modifications later on, or just get what I want now.
I have made some bad decisions in the past with money so the logical side of me is saying stick with what you got, and make what changes you like to that car.
This is probably not helping at all... good luck to you.

also, i didn't understand at all what the original post/question was about. How much are you getting for the p5. How much are they selling msp for? what is the interest rate? term? what is the down if any?
remember, the longer the term the MORE you pay for the car. even though you are paying a little less a month, your car will in the end cost you more. something to think about also.

I would just keep the P5 for low operating cost.

The insurance company was rating the car are a Protege ES but a MSP but changed the rating. Just look at the WRX and SE-R. My insurance on my SE-R is $148 a month alone. My P5 is $100 a month.

Those insurance rates are insane!!
I just turned 25, so my rates dropped from $130 a month to $92. I use State Farm and live/work in the Chicago Area. I strongly suggest you shop around for some new insurance!!

I test drove it today, SO ******* FAST.
I did some more number talking today, I'll call the insurance later and give all you folks the numbers. I might get a sweet deal, so far it's looking like I am getting the MSP afterall.

I traded in my p5 for a msp and I can't get any happier, I loved the p5 I babied it but longed for turbo, I was going to install a aftermarket turbo but I considered the problems and constant tweaking. plus the msp has factory turbo. Anyways I got an amazing deal I traded in my p5 with no money lost after one year of owning and I got the same payments on the msp as the p5.
I also am friends with the salesman so he helped out alot.
Also if you were to install a aftermarket turbo on a p5 you will still have to change to premium gas anyways.
