MSP ECU Upgrade
#46
ok, good to hear Redfyre. It seems some people would rather jump to conclusions over a typo than wait to see what unfolds. I hope this is an isolated incident. I'd hate for this board to start turning into the other little ricer-forums.

I found out about the "fix" on this forum. I realize it's not VVT but for some reason that's what popped in my head. I can't remember what it was called only that it had something to do with a swirling effect. Anyways, the fax will be send in the next few hours when I can get to a fax machine.
mac, one, you can be a little more gentle in your responsese to someone who may not be as knowlegeable but is still trying to help. Also, you might want to take the time to spell his or her name right.

TWO THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED:
THE FLASH FOR THE MAZDASPEED PROTEGE ECU: THE ECU IS "FLASHED" TO ELIMINATE THE "HESITATION" PROBLEM EXPERIENCED AT CERTAIN RPMS FROM RUNNING TOO RICH (BY INCREASING TIMING).
THE SUPPOSED FLASH FOR THE PROTEGE 5: A FIX FOR PROTEGE / PROTEGE 5 2.0 WITH THE VTCS (VARIABLE TUMBLE CONTROL SYSTEM) TO ELIMINATE THE ENGINE RATTLE NOISE ON COLD START. INCLUDES POSSIBLY REPLACING THE DELAY VALVE AND REPROGRAMMING THE ECU / PCM.
PLEASE READ THE FAQ

if you are planing on running high boost i do not rec. it as it advances the timing and that leaves less room for tuning on the MSP. i have it and now i kinda regret it cuz now i am planing on to go high boost. once you have the flash there no turning back! unless ther eis some out there thats want's to trade!
