msp pricing!?
Ok... well im looking into trading my truck in soon and getting a mazdaspeed protege.....
I'm just curious to see what a good price is that i should be expecting at the dealership?! Obviously the lower the better... but i just wanted to know what they were actually going for and how much you guys paid for them.
Thanks
Mike

Picked mine up for $16,200 with the $2500 rebate. I have seen the original 2003's go anywhere from 16,200 - 19,100 in the Twin Cities.
The 2004 models are $500 more now, and are NOT as unique as the original 2003 models.

Unique in that the 2003's are of a more limited availability due to the #'s produced for that year. Plus the spoiler's are different as well as some of the lower ground effects.
Just my .02 but the 03's look a little better. I would have gotten the Spicy orange but being in my 30's with a baby on the way, and already owning an 02' Yellow Ducati 998 another bright colored vehicle just didn't cut it for me.

Bought myself a Titanium Grey 03.5 in late October. Paid 50 bucks over invoice price on it not counting the rebates in Omaha, NE. If you pay any more than 100 over invoice price not counting rebates/incentives you're a fool.

well i went to a local dealer and i saw a few mazdaspeeds, all colors but titanium. I'm liking the silver one and that will probably be the one i get if i get one. Not sure if its true, but he's telling me there really aren't any titaniums left anywhere. Although i do know i can't find one anywhere thus far in my area.
I'm going to test drive it and talk to the guy this friday. Now i couldn't stay long when i went there this monday to check out the colors... but i did get to sit in one and the guy showed me a few things on the car. Now before i left he let me know that he could take 4k off the car. so already we are talking 17k before i try to bargain a deal with him. sounded good to me, but obviously i know we would still have some talking to do to set up a final cost.
Anyways... what is the invoice for this car? I know its 21k for the car, but i don't know how much the invoice is.
thanks

Invoice Price on 03.5 MSP is 19,447 including destination charges(you have to pay them anyway). Current incentives are $2500 manufacturer to customer cash AND $500 manufacturer to dealer cash(dealer won't tell you about this one but it's there). Sooo, a fair cash price for one right now would be $16447 (19447 - 3000). Don't be afraid to goto several dealers and most definitely tell each of them you have a better deal at a competing dealership until you get a price you can live with. Very important when doing that is to make sure the dealership you're telling the salesman you're getting a better deal at has the vehicle on their lot or at least make sure the Mazda website lists the vehicle you want in their inventory. Edmunds.com has all kinds of useful information on all new vehicles including MSRP, invoice price, and all the latest incentives including dealer incentives which most dealers won't even tell you about.

Haggle the color, tell him what color you want, they dont have it, try to get the second color at a better price. Be prepared to just get up and walk out. Not sure about Jersey, but on the west coast I found that the smaller Mazda dealers gave me a better price than the larger ones.
