My Engine is blown and I need a new one

Hey everyone,
I've been a long time reader but never posted before. Here is the situation. Low oil pressure has led to a shot engine in my 2002 P5. I seriously need to find a new engine as a rebuild is going to cost more than I can handle. In the process of finding a used stock engine I also thught I should look for maybe a mazdaspeed too. I am in Arizona and have not found much here as of yet. I'm not a mechanic and don't have experience in hunting down this kind of thing. I am totally scrambling. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

J

http://car-part.com/

There are 2.0 for $500 listed there. Maybe you'll get lucky and find one close enough to pick up so you can save on shipping.

you dont want the msp block...it's identical to the other protege blocks and no more sturdy. How much are you thinking you're going to spend on this? If performance is in your future now may be a good time upgrade to a froged block.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am not able to spend to much money maybe a couple thousand but really the issue is finding the engine any engine that will fit. Then it is labor that really kills me. I would like to do upgrades but am in a bind to just get it running. This seems like a nightmare really. It is very annoying. I checked out that site but I didn't see anything, I will have to search again.
Thanks,
J

Ok, found an engine and hopefully getting it installed by friday. Any suggestions of what to do with an extra $300-500 since I want to at least make this crappy situation into a decent ,at least fun, situation. I mean who wants to blow all their money on their car just to have it be the same? Not me. Throw out suggestions.

a 3 pod pillar for some gauges, including oil pressure, water temp and ammeter.

At that level of diassembly, I'd say do a lightened flywheel while you're in there.

i never understand excessive guages. With a solid motor or no SERIOUS mods guages are overrated.

I'm going to keep my bosted motor monitored pretty well but I'm not anticipating any problems that would require extra guages on an NA car.

i have no excessive gauges, but if you're going to start playing, i am a huge fan of really knowing whats going on under the hood. especially since these cars lack ammeter and oil pressure gauges.

i'm with don on this one, even if the car runs like clockwork, its a pet peeve of mine to always know exactly how the car is performing, if its getting to hot, losing pressure, so on, and i've also had a lot of bad experiences with the stock dummy gauges not reading accuratly... even tho it may seem excessive, i like having them around, makes me feel more secure ...
