NEW Billet Grills by Precision Design
Well....from another post I was taken to a magazine article...it had two P-5's in it there were very nice...and in the grill were these Billet Grills.....they are CNC machined from a single piece of aircraft grade aluminum......quite nice, but pricey. I got the information for the maker from the article and wrote them as there was no information on their website as to the application for our cars.....but they are available...I heard back from them today....here is a pic of the grills....and their part numbers/prices.
they are available from DemandMotorSports.com
Here are the part numbers for the 1-pc solid billet grilles for the Protégé:
Upper PD-708460 ($240.00), and PD-708470 ($270.00)
Makes your wallet pucker doesn't it! lol

LOOKS GREAT!! if we were back in 1994 i thought the "billet look" was finally gone.
i think it is funny that CNC machined is still advertised as a feature. everything nowadays is machined with a CNC, that is how they make it cheaper. if you could get something non-CNC machined then you would have something truely custom.

As far as them being CNC machined...your right...that is how the cost is cut on production runs of ANYTHING now a days that is being machined.....there is a lot of precision that comes with CNC machining.....I work in a machine shop here too.....the biggest time consuming thing with that kind of work is the initial set up....and programming...after its done the FIRST TIME....after that its a piece of cake.
I am not a big fan of the grills in their current form....i do agree that they would look nice color matched to the car though....or even that style in black....BUT....in those forms they could easily be made of molded plastic like our stock grills are and be REALLY CHEAP (cost wise) and look just as good.
