New P5 owner has a question
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and the P5. Coming from a TDI Gulf this is a big change for me.
I am thinking about putting a CAI and a K&N filter on. Is it worth the $300.00? What will the HP gain be? Anyone one know if the CAI will affect the warrantee?
My car is a 2003 P5 with a 2.0 and 5 speed.
Any help you can off will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
The general consensus around these parts is, buy a cheap intake (i.e. e-bay) and use a good filter!
Certainly worked for me. I would NEVER spend 300.00 on an intake.
Your HP gains will be mininmal (3-4 avg) no matter how much you spend on one.
A LOT more info can be found by using the search button. There has been much written on this subject.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)
make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.
Welcome!! (stash)
As for the CIA.....there are a lot of them out there for a lot less....and your gain from normal bolt ons is minimal and usually no where near what advertisers say with our cars...our engines are pretty well tweeked from the factory....there are still gains to be had....just not huge ones from a single bolt on.

Hey,
While it's true that the E-Bay CAI has been successful on several members' cars, it is also true that some folks have run into idle problems, stutters, and check engine lights with them...
I may have spent more on my AEM, and it's an SRI (not a true CAI), but at least I've never had to deal with a poorly running car after bolting her in. And yes, there is a difference in the Protege (though I will admit that other compacts I've owned in the past were more responsive to the mod).
Welcome... hope you have fun here.

Thanks for the info and the welcome guys. I'll use that handy search button up there and see what I can find out.
As for the install of the CAI if I choose one it shouldn't be anything a set of sockets, a few wrenches and a few beer can't handle right?

What'd you pay, @ 150?
