nice ride in my protege ES
Hi folks, new here but have been browsing the boards for some time and finally registered.
Two weeks ago i traded in my Ford Contour and bought a 2000 ES. It's got 38k on the clock (had 37k when i bought it ) . This car is by far the best ride i've owned so far. Those include, Toyota Celica, Honda Accord, Honda Civic , Contour v6 SE. I just get more impressed with it each day. It's truly a driver's car. Wonderful steering, brakes, and feels more satisfying than the v6 in the Contour. Even better cause the Fords v6 made a racket when excellerating. The Mazda is a nice growl and smooth. Anyway , thought i'd chime in so you can all welcome me in with open arms.

thanks, silver with gray interior. I also got a sunroof and side airbags. Automatic cause i'm not alone.
I didn't mention the VW Jetta in my opening list of cars i owned. Well, leased. It was a dissapointment. Soft suspension, weak engine , sloppy steering and a bulge under the dash that would hit my legs if i didn't put the seat way back. No glove box.
That was a 98 and i had a 4yr lease. Couldn't wait to give it back with the problems it developed and the dealer never fixed right. I think they have improved since then. But i owned a Jetta back in the 80"s and it was a driver's car. That's why i blindfoldedly leased the newer one. I thought they could only improve it. I was way wrong.

Hi Tellmom and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.
make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.
Welcome!!

I guess the 110,000 miles and the crapload of problems/repairs/incidents with the Contour didn't help either.

welcome to the forum telltom,
people here are nice and will help you out the best they can. use the search option before asking about something. it has probably been talked about in ither threads and people get pissed off if you don't check there first.
i drove a 01 ES for 18 months and loved it. picked up my PR5 in jan of this year. got a great trade in on my ES and 0% APR for 5 years. payments stayed the same with no money down and I got leather.
good choice though.....
