Noob, With a New Car
I just got my protege about 6 months ago and am now starting to look into performance mods.
First things first; I have and '02 Protege Lx, with 60k miles and ive saved up some money to get started. Ive already installed a kartboy shortshifter and j-spec intake cam, but as of yet, thats all.
My question to start things off is this
I hit 60k miles yesterday, yesterday night driving home my guage lights didnt work neither did my tail lights, pulled it apart and replaced the tail fuse, and it blows again every time. Is this a common problem or am I just going to have to play the process of elimination game with a box of fuses and a multi tester. ANY HELP or Ideas would be great thanks for the help
Oh and if anyone knows, is there anywhere you can buy a mazdaspeed motor for a swap??

Im aware its the same motor with few differances, the differance im interested in is the turbo.
Ive only had the car a little while and all I really know at this time is that I would like the turbo the motor and spend some serious money on suspension and other handling upgrades.
With that said, I'm an ex honda guy and this is only my second car, and im fully aware I more or less dont have a clue so dont remind me. I was T-boned by a drunk in my honda and turned to the protege remembering an amazing drive i took 6 months back in a friends MSP. So I figured i would ditch the whole underglow bs sceen, (I had a bone stock 95 accord, cept for the h-22 swap ). And i just want to learn something about a car that is good for something other than highway driving and getting amazing gas mileage. So thats why you find me here.
The current plan for the protege('02 Lx) is first a turbo, match the clutch and flywheel to the estimated power from the turbo and then go to work on the suspension, Im looking for 225-250 at the wheel, and from what i understand thats very doable in a protege.
Probably should have posted this stuff first, but anyways here it is.

Welcome to the club and keep an eye out in the for sale forums here and on other protege forums. If you are patient you can find someone selling the entire MSP turbo setup; you'll want thhe ECU, too.
