2001 Protege..OD/off light flashed for about 50 km's of hwy. driving...car was running with overdrive off and unable to get OD back on....Now the car is running with OD on and no light unable to get OD off. Also slow shifting up from first gear when starting from cold ...ok after...seems normal..........any ideas?

 

catastrophic atx tranny failure. That light comes on like that to let you know your transmission is taking a dump on you.

 

I will get scan done, using mazda software. Also quite a few minor reasons for the event. Presently shifting smoothly and no clunks. ...Only switching off OD seems to be a problem.
