Offered a P5 at a decent rate or should I ask for more?
Hello all....I'm looking at getting a 2003.5 P5. It includes (here in Canada + my options): (Midnight Blue)
ABS (standard here in Canada), moonroof, A/C, shiftronic (yes it's auto but till you've driven one shhhhhhhhhh ), wheel locks.
I was offered the car at 4.9% financing for 60 months, no payments for 6 months, and 800 off the model if no moonroof, or the moon roof free. Payments would be either $375 CDN (with moonroof) or $358 CDN (no moonroof) and $7500 CDN down with either option. (everything is tax in, PDI, Freight etc )
Dealer showed me his costs and they where ($1545 CDN) Mazda has no holdbacks
Should I ask for more off or free accessories ( want list is bug deflector, moonroof "guard", and rear bumper protector).
Anyone buy one lately and get a good deal in Ontario (particularly the Ottawa area??)
BTW I currently ramble around in an '88 Prelude (auto too :P )

Mazda has holdbacks in the US, I don't know about Canada. Don't worry about bleeding a dealer dry, they get hidden incentives from Mazda that make it profitable for them to sell a car even below their paper invoice.

That's a little too much man... I purchased the same car (except an '02) with the sunroof and with MT for less. With the payments you listed, and the $7500 down... you're paying $30000 for the car after taxes.... I paid $28400 with my payments (no money down, including same interest rate of 4.9%)
So let's say I added $1000 for the AT, I would still have been at $29400...
BUUUUUUT, look at it this way.... will you be happy with the purchase?? I know I was, so I wasn't worried about going in there and haggling.... The easiest thing for you.... tell them to throw in ALL 3 of those accessories and it's a deal... or walk away... trust me, they'll grab you by the arm and bring you back!!
GOOD LUCK!!

the moonroof guard and bumper guard would cost you about $140 canadian and the dealer cost is probably 1/2 that! they put those on mine included in the price when i bought mine - and the bumper guard is VERY much needed.

You're kinda gettin jacked. I paid 26000 after everything. Includes Taxes, interest rate, down payment and whatever else. Mine is M/T, A/c, moonroof, wheel locks and the protection package.
My monthly payments are 410/month w/ 1500 down. I paid for the moonroof and the protection package out of my own pocket so it's not included in the down payment. The moonroof costed me 750 and the protection package costed me 480(dealer cost).

i didn't really haggle, but got a basic price for the
pro5 MT (USD16000). i think you can get it lower by about $500 but i was offered 0% APR for 36months or $500 cash back with 4.9% for 60months.... so just took the 0% for 36months with 8k down.
i pay USD278 for 36 months. i couldve just
bought the car cash, (total $18k including tax, destination,
registration, etc) but that wouldn't be a smart move since i
could get some tiny bit of interest off of CD in a bank. hahaha..
let me emphasize TINY!
edmunds.com says their fair market value is ~USD17600 total with everything (tax, destination, etc) so i didn't get too
ripped off...
and a barebone blue mica MT was hard to find around here so,
that was more important to me than going to the dealer over
and over again to find one.
