Oil change at the dealership

Oil change at the dealership
I know we've discussed brands and weights of oil before so that's really not what I want to get into. I would just like to tell a little story of my time at the dealership yesterday. Let me first start by saying, as soon as the warranty is up I'll be doing it myself.
Now, I go in to get it changed and tell the service guy that I would like 10w30 put in the P5. (the owners manual suggests 5w30 or 10w30)
He tells me that "they don't suggest it, these cars call for 5w20" Now I have never heard of 5w20. I tell him about the owners manual and again request 10w30. Car goes in, I get the 10w30 but now I'm left to wonder, did he just misspeak and mean to say 5w30? Is this a new weight I haven't heard of? Or, is he insane?

Precisely why I do it myself. It takes me ten minutes in my driveway, and costs me about eight bucks for a quality filter and quality oil. Put it this way: it takes more time for me to drive to the dealer than it does to do it myself. And then there is twenty bucks in my pocket that otherwise would not have been there when I am done.
If you do your own oil changes, it will not void your warranty. I mean, oil changes really are cake. Why not start now?

In my pro however, I run fully synthetic 10w40. Why so High? Cause 40 weight has 40 % more additives than 30. But with the 10 winter rating, it runs thin and still conserves fuel.
