Ok, the P5 is super annoying

juggalos sound off...
5 eh? Well 3 for sure...
Ninjas in the house sound off!!
BTW, I've never noticed a high pitch whine on the highway in my ride. SouthWest - you never mentioned if you have a roof rack?
Only time my engine rattles is on cold mornings when i don't let it warm up enough.
I've been keeping track of my mileage since Day 1. It steadily improved since I got the car and now I get an average of 26 - 27 MPG (just over 9l/100km) of mostly city driving so I can't complain! And this is pre-intake and exhaust which supposedly give better mileage too.

High pitched whining noise
the noise is not from the engine. Many Pro owners have had this problem. I had the same earsplitting noise in my 99 ES when i would go about 80mph or above. Try driving 2000+ miles in three days with that I think my ears are still ringing. The solution is simple - it is a defective windshield seal. To make sure put duct tape on the top of the windshield over the seal (on the outside ) and see if the noise is gone. Maybe put tape around the rest of the windshield too if it doesn't stop. The dealer did this for me and the noise went away. They will take care of replacing the windshield for you and then you can focus on spotting cops when zooming along at 100mph - instead of the noise.

the only real gripe i have as far as noise goes is the wind buffetting problem at the support pillar. its the pillar that seperates the drivers door and driver's side pass. door. at higher speeds (50+), esp. on the interstate, it sounds like the door jamb has no seals whatsoever.
im pretty sure sure its not a bad seal(s) problem however. reason is that it is duplicated on the pass. side as well. it sounds like the window is down-but its not. if it were, it would be blowing my hair all over cause, thats almost how it sounds. lastly, i can hear allot more road noise. again like the windows down-well...not quite.
i have read that the Pro5 has a quite crappy coefficient(sic?) of drag rating, which would explain the whole "wind buffetting" thing. I have no leaks and no whines of any kind-yet. well, except for my intake that sounds like a turbo (Literally!!) and when the throttle is closed a BOV!! and i must say that i do feel that the Pro5 has the best build quality of ANY car ive ever owned and theyve all been japanese!
inclu'd-95 240sx (great build quality actually and great front end crash protection. dont ask how i know!)
99' civic si-shitty build quality but great engine
92' sentra se-r. again great nissan build quality. well, at least they used to have. dont know bout' now though.

I'm a little annoyed with some of my P5 flaws, though I really do love the car.
The whistling I hear on the passenger side sounds like a window is open.
The roof rack wailing has to go (I'll remove that this weekend).
The CD player automatically repeats once the CD is over, and the sound system isn't wonderful.
Cup holders are too shallow for reasonable coffee cups and water bottles.
MPG is as advertised after 7,000 mi, and we could always use more horsepower, so I can't complain there. It's an automatic, so I hope Mazda/Ford has worked out their past tranny issues. Ugh.
Mostly it's the wind whistling and the roof rack, along with a few minor interior features. Otherwise, I LOVE THIS CAR.
