out of commison... again
ran through some deep water, Injen sucked it up, car shut off just as i was getting to higher land, tryed starting it, no dice
its been 4-5 hours, i tryed starting it again, it turned over once, then just died out again
am i going to need a new motor?
I took the n2o out again, along with the CAI, car is ready to see the dealer again

I would, were I you, be thinking I got some water in those cylinders. I had that happen on my Ranger when the head gasket failed. I ended up needing a rebuild on the motor because some of the cylinders were scored. But hey, you might be lucky and they or you can just get the water out of the engine and it might run fine. I guess I would take it to the dealership but I think they are going to know you were running a CAI, since our intake systems are so high off the ground and there probably isnt any flood damage on the rest of the vehicle. That and your head gasket is probably in excellent shape, which is another way water could get in the engine.

That sucks Patio. What's thelatest? DId you try to get it running on Sunday?? Any Luck? That storm Saturday night sure laid down some rain. Keeping my fingers crossed that it wsn't water in the motor but something else getting sogged.

With your Injen intake, I believe they do have extra splash guards and what not for around $50...it might be worth a try once you get it up and going again.

open oil filler cap and see if oil looks funny-has milky appearance. That means water got into engine. I suggest changing oil to get out possible traces of water-to have some leverage at dealership.
Probably it doesn't start because of wet starter.
For now, wait. You might get away unharmed. But if engine starts with knocking noice-congratulations, you have bent rod.

They will install new engine-it's less cost than tear old engine apart. but if they find out that you sucked water in....I don't know...

aw crap, i drained the oil and put some new oil in there, its pure oil now, but the oil i drained looked like coffee w/lots of cream which would mean there was water up in there. the plugs were wet when i removed them, pretty much soaked actually, the car does fire up though, i have that loud knocking noise though, its kinda horrid sounding :/
oh well, i guess this is my future

Patio, I hope this doesn't sound like a horrible question. I know you must be really upset. But can you tell us exactly what happened? Just as a precautionary story for everyone else with an Injen? I was about to install one tomorrow and wasn't going to bother with the AEM bypass, but...
How deep was the water? How long were you in it? Did you actually hear or feel the water getting sucked in? etc.

Does the dealer know you had a intake? If not, remove as much aftermarket stuff from your engine bay and take it back in looking stock. I know it sounds shady, but it's worth a shot. "Honestly, I don't know what happened, it just stalled."

There's a Celica with a CAI over at FIC that sucked up some water and *blam* the engine needs replacing...
I beleive he tried going through the dealership but they just kinda lauged at him. So he made an insurance claim because he was driving the car when he sucked up the water (obviously). So, a $500 deductible later, he ended up with a new motor. We tried getting him a J-Spec Celica motor, but his insurance company insisted on supplying the motor. Sucks...
Check with your insurance company and see what your policy would cover.

Now my questions...
Is it worth getting an intake and getting your engine ruined? Not saying all intake will mess up your engine but from hearing these kind of stories, made me think twice about getting one.

Make sure all traces of water are gone before taking it to the dealer. If there is any milky oil residue left, change the oil again or use an engine flush. Then take it in and give them a good story. Good luck.
