Unhappy Oxygen Sensor

Does anyone know if I can use a universal O2 sensor in my 1999 protege 1.6L or where I may find one for less than $445?
Email me:
MSSPRIG@yahoo.com
Thanks
Mitch

I just had to buy one as well. Cost $430.00CDN and only got rid of my check engine light for about a month. Car has always run the same, can't see any difference.
Doesn't make any sense. These things must be made of gold.

I was just wondering how many miles do you have on your 99 Protege?.. I have a 99 Protege 1.6L with 76,000 miles, and I was worried about my O2 sensor..I have had no problems so far...

THanks
Barry

Hi Barry,

Mine is a 99 Protege ES with 50,000 miles.
It's like I mentioned. The check engine light is on. The mechanic tells me it's the O2 sensor but a replacemnent didn't help.
I'm not too worried about it since it seems to be running well.
From the information that I've gotten off the internet this is a standard occurence.
