Whats wrong with the P5 ABS???

We are getting snowed on... long story short, the ABS system in our cars at least doubles the braking distance compared to when the ABS fuse is removed (disabling the ABS).

I would like to know what the differences are between a P5 with and without ABS is... ie. are the brakes biased the same? boost the same?

Any ideas, tips, questions? Up here I had no choice, ABS came standard (unfortunately, would have loved to save a few bucks)

I'll leave this thread up for now, but please don't spam post on several different boards.

posting the same topic on other boards is irritating. We would like to discuss the abilities of our ABS systems just not in this fashion:

"Yo! Why my ABS gots to be fuxor? I mean like damn B I was crizuzing at 190mph when I tossed a supra....punk! "

How about a thread like this?

" Can anyone list the specifics on the P5's braking distances and why my car may possibly take longer than most?"

The second thread will garner a lot more usefull feedback.

I apologise for the threads title, but its content is civil...

I also will post only once per topic from here on in, again my apologies if this has annoyed anyone.

You can close it down... it's doing well on the other forum.

no need to close it here. If you're getting usefull info (I'm not seeing any) then feel free to discuss it here. The difference between us and other forums is we try to keep everything civil, friendly and helpful.

I'm curious which tires you're using.

Actually, the ABS system on our cars do a good job for the majority of the time... after driving several days now in differing winter conditions, I have found that the ABS cuts in very little, and am happy with it ( I just over reacted when I typed the title ). However, my real beef is probably the fact that you can not switch it off when you want to (like in heavy snow, or when you want to play in the snow or at the track - better without ABS), unlike some high end cars that allow the driver to disengage the ABS...

Oh, and I have Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip GW3's, and I swear by them...

If you're really that desperate to turn off the ABS, just remove the fuse.

You can splice a switch in the wire that leads from the fuse.
