I recall Road & Track doing a comparison test on this matter a few years ago. Their findings (if I recall correctly) after repeated controlled tests on a variety of surfaces was that in most situations ABS stopped shorter as compared to threshold. The only drawback was on glare ice where ABS became confused resulting in longer distances.
