P5 Electric motor hum audible while idling?
Just curious - I hear a definite hum while idling or at low speeds, could I be hearing the fuel pump? It's much less audible from outside, but sounds like it's coming from underneath the car (as opposed to underneath the hood). I do have the vent fan turned off.
If I am hearing the fuel pump, should I be? I know, I know, "That just means your music's not loud enough," but if it's something to be watching I'll see about getting it checked when I go pick up my license plates in a week or two.

The new Pro Sports we just purchased had a thump thump while sitting in the drive at idle. It sounded very much like a chopper in the distance. I had a hunt around and found a small pump clicking away mounted to the manifold and attached to the charcoal canister. There dont seem to be any rubber mounts under the canister were it mounts to the fire wall. This intern transfers the clicking of the pump into the cabin. It can be intermitent as the pump cycles in and out. Damn pollution control.

Well, that's not the noise I'm hearing but it may be the same thing. The one I'm hearing is pretty steady, but definitely electronic as well (it slows for a moment when I turn on the lights, etc., and is off when the engine isn't running).

Ah, makes sense. I'll take a look when I get back to within 500 miles of my car. I wasn't thinking about that because I didn't seem to hear it from the front of the car.
