P5 Light Bulb Types...

I tried the search button and cannot get the full details anywhere.

I just need to know what bulbs are what type (I'm focusing on reverse, all blinkers, and brake lights). Thanks!

Angry Hey ! Why don't you read the manual

rant: The Bulb Types are not in the P5 owners manual only the locations, if any one has changed the bulbs a little help would be nice. And I have searched mysefl for the bulb numbers but no one has any info on the p5 bulbs yet. Not even the dealer yet.

It's so nice to people use acronyms to swear at me and call me lazy.

"THE MAN" and "90&00 Protege"

If you don't have anything good to say then (I'll leave the rest up to you to figure out)...

It's also nice to know that the Moderator (THE MAN) is one of them.

Thanks for the lack of support.

Protege Menace thanks for your help. I had already done that and could not find a list of all the types of bulbs on my P5 just bits n pieces (headlights and foglights mostly). I had better use the www.protegemp3.com website P5 Forum instead.

Yeah I that is pretty messed up guys. I knwo you guys can get tired of answering redundant questions, but if the guy tried, and he honestly looked, you shouldn't give him such a bad time. If the thread pisses you off, don't respond to it. If you wanna help him cool, I myself have actually been wondering the same types of questions, but was afraid of sometimes of response like the ones up above. Its really not the way to keep new members here. I mean you do want more members don't you guys?

Good point... If you don't like the question (or are sick of answering it), then DON'T ANSWER! The forum is turning into a place where newbies are being flamed for everything they say sometimes. C'mon, leave it friendly and open! There are plenty of people who still want to help people with "stupid" and "easy" questions, so let them answer, instead of the usual "READ THE FAQ" or "RTFM" answers by the same 'cough' 'cough' people.

"Protege Menace", there are two problems with your post...

First, the guy said he tried searching already... so he isn't being ignorant of the "rules".

Second, the bulb part numbers he was asking for are NOT in the FAQ.

BTW, where are the forum rules? I could not find a link to them... maybe I'm just being blind tho

Anyway, lets just get back to discussing our cars! We must have too much time on our hands to be bitchin' about this

Just my 2cents.

It's because of threads like this one that I stopped posting here. Now I surf occaisionally and see that things have not changed. It's really too bad.

I wanted to find a forum for my wife's new car just like the forum for the Impala SS's... I was really excited when I found this forum. But the attitudes here sent me away. This is not what an on line community is all about.

You guys need to grow up and lose the attitudes.

Well dude there are some cool people here. I don't know why people don't have any tolerance, it is kinda lame. I mean for instance I work for Intel and I know a **** ton about computers, I am also a member of a few computer related forums. I never get pissed when someone asks the most menial question about a computer related issue. I help, because I know that everybody was a newbie at some time, and all they want is help. I mean when a member has been around for awhile and knows how the forum works, and the attitudes of people, then they should know better than to post stupid crap. But I really think some of the more jaded members here need to either chill out or ignore posts by newbs. Just my opinion, peace out.

I just think it is silly that Mazda would not include the headlight info in the owner's manual. As far as I can figure, it is H7 for high and low and H3 for fog lights. A buddy of mine just bought the Spec V and it's manual has all the lights and how to even align them. I would love to get my hands on the Mazda tech writers.

It might be in the American manual. Our bilingual manuals mights have had some stuff inadvertantly left out. Trust me, I have searched high and low in that thing...all it gives in the spec part is the wattage and in the owner maintenance it gives the replacement procedure.

Speaking of bulbs...has anyone ever tried a Silverstar bulb from Sylvania. I would like to use a trusted name instead of a cheaper (or more expensive) alternative that I have no guarantees with until I try the bulb out. And I don't want a nice-looking bulb that croaks in a few months either.

BTW thank you for the prompt response. It is nice to see that people actually read the posts.

p.s. - this forum is very good, keep it up.

RTFM? Does that mean read the free manual. I don't know about you but mine was included in the car's cost.

See, the two of you with your attitudes are part of the problem here. And one of you is a MODERATOR!!!!

I am a member of quite a few LONGSTANDING automotive forums. And you know what, in those forums, we have newbies daily who come in and ask questions that have been answered a thousand times over. But you know what? We STILL answer one or two of the questions (again) and politely steer them towards the search function. Everybody stays happy. The seniors are happy to have helped the newbie. I get a great feeling of satisfaction when I know that I have helped someone out, why don't you? The newbie then feels welcomed and tells his/her friends. So in turn, they point their friends to the forums. And we get more newbies asking questions. And would you belive that some of them even have worthwhile contributions!!!!! **gasp** And the friendly community continues to grow and the cycle repeats...

Enough with the "I'm better than you are" attitudes because you have been around and have RTFM time and time again. I'm glad you can read. I'm glad you know all there is to know about the Protege's. But your attitudes towards new people looking for some assistance and looking to fit in is completely intolerable. Why do it with an attitude and get pissed? Why not just accept that the same questions will be asked time and time again and either respond to them politely or just ignore them and let the other members on the forum steer them in the correct direction. You say that helping the new guys will drive the forums into the ground??? HAH! I say that flaming the new guys (or others) for asking questions is a sure bet to keep people away. It has so far kept me away. And I'm sure many others also.

But your friends will be left here. And then when the dozen or so of you are the only ones posting anymore, I will not feel sorry for you when the post comes up titled "Where did everyone go? How come nobody asks questions anymore"

I really hope you guys can bite your tongue and let this forum grow into the great place it has the potential to be. I would love to be able to become part of the community here, but I will not stand for the abuse that is put out here by some members, and moderators. And I am sure I am not alone.

You can completely ignore me and flame me all you want (which I'm sure you will) but you will most certainly seal this forum's fate if you continue to be set in your ways.

I honestly hope that you can see what I am trying to show you. If you can, I'll be more than happy to stick around.

Take care and good luck.
Bill

I have a Protege5 myself and I am looking in the "Protege5 / Protege 2002 Owners Manual" part number "9999-EC-038C-02 (Canada only)".

Now I can assure you that this manual DOES NOT tell the user the lightbulb type for any bulb on the car.
It has information on how to install and remove the bulb including safe handling of halogen bulbs.
The manual even goes so far to tell you the wattage of each bulb in the vehicle.

I think maybee the 2001 owners manual is different from the 2002.

For those still interested the headlight/foglight info for 2002 Protege5:
Lowbeams -->H7
Highbeams ->HB3 or 9005
Foglights ->H3

If you need more info on light bulb types call you're local Mazda dealer or Mazda headquarters.

I'm not trying to offend anyone just reading my manual.
If my manual is wrong then I will complain to Mazda.
