p5 seats!!!

I am considering a P5 for purchase but seats are an importnat feature too me. How would all you P5 drivers out there describe your seats? supportive? comfy? adjustable?

Thanks for your help!

Quite adjustable actually. You can adjust the bucket on it. That was a surprising feature. I like them a lot.

I also have a 1988 323 DX and when I switch between the two, I can really tell the difference. The P5 seat is so much nicer. I also have leather in the P5 and I am not sure if that changes anything.

As Rishie said it is adjustable and that is a nice feature but I still have not found the right combination for the front and back. I'll have to keep working on it.

By the way, not that I have to be in the back but those seats are also very comfortable.

Over all it's a good seat, You can adjust it in a lot of ways so you should be able to find a good fit. The seat bottom could be a little deeper perhaps. (Length from front edge to back of seat seems short to me compared to other cars)

The front seats on the P5 is firm and supportive. With the leather option, it feels like you're in a BMW or some other European car.

I think the seats in the P5 are for the most part really comfy and firm. They hold me in place quite well, but having sat in a friends Spec-V i liked the seats that came in that car a lot more. They were a perfect fit for my frame and i found the sides held me in place a lot better than the p5 seats do. For a stock seat they're great though. The only thing I could ask for was a little better lumbar support.

Yeah, I think the P5 seats need more side support. Plus I feel like a d*mn truck driver, becuase the seats sit up so high. But they are comfortable.

Question

The seat sits up so damn high??? HUH?

Seriously I'm cofused. I've driven a lot of cars and these seats are NOT high. Do you have it cranked up high or something? Or do you want the OG lay down seat or what?

I think you're misinforming this new guy if you tell him the seats sit high. Though Consumer Reports is not a "car" mag, one of their biggest complaints with the P5 was the low seating position. You lost me somewhere by saying it sits so damn high.

Go drive a Matrix Now THAT'S a high seating position. Like a minivan or pick up truck.

(This is NOT a flame, don't go all macho on me, I just really don't understand how you could find these sits high)

That doesnt make sense. I thought the seats were average in hight but very comfotable for the type of car it is. you will not be dissapointed. As far as the seats being high I dont think so. You can adjust them down quite a bit and if need be you can lay them back like my home boys in PR.

See the June edition of Car and Driver also, for the comparo of 5 sport-hatch-wagons. Rated the P5 highest for driver comfort and ergonomics (not to mention overall).
Seats have great lower back support, and height and angle adjustable to anyones size/preference.

I think something that's been overlooked is the driver. How big (or small) you are is going to play a factor. Also, keep in mind your personal preferences.

I like things on the firm side. I'm 5' 8", 200 lbs. I find the seats in the Protege terrific. They're 6-way manual adjustable, so it's easy to find a good driving position. The padding is firm with plenty of support laterally. But it's not so firm as to be uncomfortable. I find it's just the right balance.

If I could as for anything else, it would be a lumbar adjustment, and a telescoping steering column (for us with short arms ).

IMHO, the seats are much more comfortable than anything else out there in the same price range.

The P5 seats RULE! I owned a 95 Grand Am before this car, and it was VERY uncomfortable! Needless to say, comfort was on top of my list when I was shopping for the car. I still cant believe how comfortable they are, and roomy at that!

so-so P5 seats

I like the velvety fabric. But, it seams to wear fast and these seats are a far cry from the ones I had in my old Integra which had amazing lateral support. P5s handle great, but you need to grip your steering because nothing holds your upper body in tight turns.

Later.
