P5 a Station Wagon?

Hey, I can't understand why the P5 is classified as a "station Wagon". Funny, cuz' my P5 has less room than the piece of crap Taurus that I traded for It! But, if so, it makes for a zippy grocery-getter :-)

Joe Thornton, you moron!

Station wagons aren't usually 5" shorter than the sedans they're based on. If you follow this formula: 4 door + hatch = station wagon, then you can bang Ford over the head for making two different Focus wagons.

Not saying it is a station-wagon, but if it were, would that make it any less fun to drive. Or less good looking? Or any less anything? Didn't think so...

It's thereotically a hatchback, due to it's shorter length than the sedan. However, visually it looks like a station wagon due to its rear quarter windows.

The classification is great for insurance due to it's lower rates compared to hacthbacks like the Honda Civic, VW GTI, etc

I was thinking the same thing.... if it is a wagon it might get classed in a category where the rates are a little lower!

well guys...this has been debated MANY times before...and a definitive answer will most likely NEVER be had.....

IF you were to go on line and find virturally ANY automotive dictionary you would find that by defination.....TECHNICALLY....our car fits into BOTH catagories....and I would challange you to find anywhere, in any technical book of automotive definations that says a wagon of a particular model HAS to be longer than the sedan of that same model....ture....typically they always have been...but that does not mean that they MUST be.

another thing....I think if any of you will get out both your state issued title for your P5, if your state in fact issues titles, and also get out your Registration card you will find a code on both of them....and that code is the BODY CODE...and it will be 4H or 4T That happens to be HATCHBACK, at least that is how MOST states have catagorized them.....and the reason its like that, IMO is so that insurance companies can stick it to us just a little more!!!

by the way....in MY opinion....the P5 is a SPORT WAGON. I really don't care what the insurance companies or the state want to call them.

My NY state title calls it a 4DSD, now I need to find the decoder to see what it comes out as.

Boy, that is a meaningless thread. How many times does that need to come up? Who cares anymore what the car is called. The P5 looks wicked, that's all that matters. Next, we'll debate why the water and sky are 'blue'...Oh forget it. Can we have another section for 'off-topic' called 'useless'?
