P5 Tire Recommendation Please

P5 Tire Recommendation Please
I've got a '03 P5 with 40K on it. Tires need to be replaced. Currently riding on pathetic (factory?) Dunlop SP Sport 5000's (P195/50/R60 83V M+S). They are unresponsive rocks.
Looking for a recomendation for a quality tire with a much improved ride, better handling, and water displacement.
Any thoughts??
Any decent prices out there??
Thanks!

a guy in the club switched to 205/45/16 yoko avs es100's and loves them. they're a really good tire for the price. but you'll definitely sacrafice ride quality for better handling.
if you're looking for a really good all around performer, check into the pirelli pzero nero m+s tires. they're the best of both worlds and are rated very high. not too much more expensive than the yokos. oh, and their treadwear is 420 and they ride real quiet. i'm getting me a set, actually.

Thanks. I have had other recomendations for the Toyo's. Appears to be a popular tire.
Anyone out there running a Michelin tire on a P5??
Anyone using anything other than a 16" diameter tire on a P5??

My Mario Andretti days are over even though this is the closest I'm going to get to a midlife crisis "sports car". Don't need the handling like I would have 20 years ago, but thanks for the rec none the less.
I have had several recomendations for the standard size yoko's. I have heard about folks switching to the 205 size tire, but from what I can tell, 205's or a diameter larger than 16" is a tight fit in that wheel well.
This is the first rec I have seen for the Pirelli's. I've heard they are a good tire, but have never ridden on a set.
An all-around tire is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks.

BTW, my Hankooks are remarkably good on dry pavement, but suck in the rain. It's a 40-series tire, so I would not call the ride plush. But it is better than other 40-series tires that I've owned in the past. For a bargain tire, they are not bad. If I had a few more bills to rub together, I would have gone with Falken Azenis. But I am pleased with my choice.

I know I am probably going to get shot at but I got to say it. I dont think the stock Dunlops are that bad. Sure they really suck in the rain but it reminds me to drive with some sense. In the dry they perform pretty damn good. They let me know when I am pushing it too hard and give me a little tire squeal when I need to feel fast. Just my .02

...and yes, highperf summer grippy tires WILL wear out faster than those all-purpose/all season ones...but if you drive in rain a lot then you should consider Toyos

I got the car with 30k on it and the original Dunlops were still on it. Now, at the 40K mark, they have definitely had it. I might not be giving them a fair break in so far as the ride is concerned. But no matter what, you are absolutely correct; they are terrible in water. Since I have owned them, I have felt like l was driving on marbles every time it rains. Looking fwd to something new with a lot better wet handling and traction.
Thanks.

The P5 manual says that for 16" wheels, it only recommends 195's. Any problem going to the 205's? How about a 205/55/16??
Just wondering if anyone has installed that combination.
