PIAA Bulb Replacements - CDN On-Line Stores?
Hey!
I live in a smaller community that doesn't have any specialty shops or PIAA distributers (other than Canadian Tire). Does anyone have any good PIAA and/or other good light bulb on-line store that distributes to Canadian customers?
Thanks!
MD

Hey MD
Which ever bulbs you get, make sure they are 12V/55W bulbs. If you get high wattage bulbs, they might melt your wiring harness. There are several manufacturers out there that carry bulbs which are brighter but still 12V/55W.
Also, Canadian Tire has their auto store called Part Source where they sell aftermarket bulbs. In fact I think Canadain Tire now has a whole section in their store catering to the aftermarket crowd.

Thanks for the info.
To be sure, I just checked the casings my bulbs came in. Of the major 3 I replaced (H3/H7/9005), the H7's and H3's were both 12V / 55W but the 9005 was 12V / 60W. Do you think that will do much harm?

I think that is okay for the 9005 since I think that one is for the high beam and should be brighter.

I am running 85W bulbs in the stock foglights. No issues, just have to remember not to keep them on for long if you are standing or parked.

I know a guy who ran with 85W bulbs for his low beams and it melted the connector.

Nope, I got Hella YellowStar 85W off a local guy here in TO for about $10CDN+taxes, but good luck actually finding them anywhere...
Mind you, I LOVE my all-season lowbeams, and the ordering process was seamless. They were very helpful via e-mail afterwards ( our low beams have an adapter, which you need to pry off the bulb )
I can probly get the Hellas off the guy and ship them to you, if it's worth your while ( read - cheaper than Phillips from UK ). PM me if you want.

I wouldn't dare to put anything higher than 55W in the headlight cluster, because of the sh@tty DOT-spec plastic headlights ( BTW, Phillips allseasons actually say that they block UV, so that they are safe for plastic headlights - BUT they are 55W ).
The fogs have not been "americanized", they are rather the "one fits all", DOT and e-code, in glass lens. If you run 85W in fogs ( see my earlier post ), you are doing that at your own risk. Still, what I found was that while the lens is hotter than w/55, the rest of the lamp case is not. Just gotta remember to keep moving, or turn them off.

Did you have to replace the housing (did it melt?)
I'll have to keep a close eye on the bulbs to make sure they last. Hope so!
Has anyone seen the replacement taillight covering called 'Altezza's? They are about $185-$205 shipping included on protege5online.com.
MD
Any idea if there are any Canadian Distributor for those?
Tks!
