I had a good sense of my mileage today - figured I'd add my $.02
I filled up this morning - actually, I put in $10, but it got me to the "full" mark on the gauge without "topping-off", so the tank read full, but could've taken some more. I use 87 octane, and have about 21,000 miles on my Pro5 (automatic trans), and was carrying aprroximately 100-120 lbs of tools in the hatch.
I drove 190 miles, probably 90% highway, at an average speed of around 65+ MPH.
Net result - my gauge is now at or a hair below the halfway mark.
Rough estimates would be - 190 on half tank of gas = 380 miles on full tank (figuring if I "topped-off" and stuffed the tank, that would be the "reserve" when I was running low - so I think I used just about a real-world half tank today).
So using 14 gallons as a tank full (impossible to use all 14.6 without getting stranded, you know ) 380/14 ~ 27.1 MPG.
I don't think this is too bad considering the terrain was hilly, and I carry the extra weight. With an empty car, on fairly flat ground, with a topped-off tank, I'm sure I could pull 400 or more miles per tank easily, which would be around 28-29 MPG at least.
I will do the fill up/drive/refill/calculate method soon, just to check my numbers.

I'm averaging 9.9L/100Km since August when I bought my P5. I would be happier with better mileage, but it seems to be pretty much on track with the 9.6L/100Km advertised.
If anyone's interested, here's a spreadsheet of my numbers.
Cheers,
Eric

You know what, i get about 24 MPG in the city and well I'm young so I drive my car pretty hard still making sure to give her the breaks its needs to rest and recuperate, i use fuel cleaner and such, oil cleaner all that frequenlty, i get 30-37 miles on the freeway depending on wiether I crush at 70 or 75 or just try to get to my destination the fastest, I drive my car fast but when its off the road I make sure it gets the car it needs. mabey thats why i get good gas milaege when i want to.
Its all about the love!!!!

As you noticed, there wasn't a noticeable change in mileage with the K&N, nor a real power increase. The car feels slightly more responsive, and the engine definitely has a better "growl". Since the K&N is a lifetime filter, it still pays for itself.

On our last tank, we went 360 miles and when we filled, it took exactly 12 gallons. That was 100 city miles, followed by 260 freeway miles at 75 MPH - 30 MPG exactly.
'02 base model P5, 5 speed, 87 octane gas, not using the A/C.
