This car is the worst car imaginable, @ 4000 miles the wheel bearings went, it took almost two weeks to fix because the dealer could not get the wheels off (rim locks) installed by dealer. Thankfully I didn't have a flat. The ignition fuse blows killing the engine in cold, wet conditions, but hey I'm in Pa. whats the chance of it getting cold and wet here? The latest malady is one that has had the car in the shop since 10 10 02 todays date is 01 03 03 The clucth assembly disintegrated when the transmission lost 1 2 4 and 5th gears. They are putting in a new transmission but the responsibility to pay for the clutch and labor are mine. This car was brand new 0 miles in june of 2002. To date it has 13000 miles on it. Mazda will not budge on their policy. Please Please do not buy a car similar to this. The estimate for the clutch and labor exceeds 800.00. pretty hard to do and make a payment too. Anyone who has a similar experience to this is encouraged to write me at jimshingleton@hotmail.com. Oh by the way if you are indeed involved in a mazda struggle as well, document everything. good luck I haven't had any. zoom zoom broke.

the first 3500 miles or so seemed like we were going to like this car as well as some other mazdas we had. A few friends had older model rx's and they were literally indestructable. Some used mazdas were our experience and they were great as well. If by chance My dealer can make sufficient repair to this car to sell, (they offered me 6500.00 as a trade in) ( on a 14000.00 8 month old car) I'll be parting with it, and i wanted to allow anyone that could potentially end up with it , the courtesy to know the vin #,

Why won't Mazda repair the tranny for free? is there something else you haven't mentioned? Seems like all of this SHOULD be under warranty, including labor. You may need to flex the "Lemon Laws" of PA in your behalf if all this is legitimate (i.e., no documented abuse or warranty-voiding modifications).
Contact MazdaUSA and a lawyer.
Good luck. BTW, our car has been fine thus far - 16K miles and 11 months!

They are warrantying the tranni, and replacing it with a rebuilt, the clutch as it has passed the 13000 mile mark is no longer covered even though the main bearing seizing is the cause of the failure. At this point I am unsure as to whether it will have the existing warranty or not. this gets better, When we took the car in we told them it had only one forward gear, and the clutch would to some extent disengage the trannsmission but slipped excessively, they said the'd look at it, they did, they said that upon a general inspection they found nothing to be wrong with the transmission and would install the clutch and test it. Well, you know the results, That huge question mark over my head is why in the world would you go through all of the intense labor to remove the clutch install the clutch and remove the clutch again when you suspected the tranni was a problem? Their answer was that they never bothered to start or try to move the car, and they really didn't understand what the original complaint was. stay tuned good talking to you

Please review the lemon laws in your area. If it was a manufacturer fault, I do not see how they can force you to pay for repairs. I say bitch and whine to mazda until you get your way...that how I got my complimentary touch up paint in 3 days.
