Yea they're pretty easy to find. Uplug the wires on top of the valve cover, and there you go.

The other two are under the coil packs. Very Easy to do. You will need a 'spark plug ' socket witht the rubber insert to pull them out once unscrewed. Or use an extractor/mechanical fingers. Buy the silicon boot protector and electrolytic grease for the connections. It seems like all the new ones come already gapped.

On top of the valve cover, on the top of the motor, you'll see 4 ignition coils. Unplug the coils and remove them. (10mm bolts). Once they are out, you'll have access to the spark plugs.

Actually, there are only two coils. Here is a pic, the spark plugs are circled in red.

For some reason that's hard to believe at this point. I'm glad we were able to help you out, but if he's been a mechanic that long then he should've been able to spot the spark plugs. That's probably the most elementary piece of maintenance you can perform on a car and is relatively the same between all makes and models.

The only time I've heard an educated (vehicularly) person ask where spark plugs where was on a diesel.....he just honestly knew nothing about diesel.

If you are unsure how to find a spark plug you should REALLY have a pro look at the car. That's kind of like asking "I need to change my tire....now where's my wheel?"

I can see where he might have been confused. If he is used to working on american v8's, he was probably looking for the distributor to follow the wires to the spark plugs. The fact that we don't have distributors may have left him scratching his head.
