Thumbs up Protege clubs?????

Are there any Protege clubs in Fredericksburg, VA??? I don't see very many pro's around here, much less one that is modified. If there are no established pro clubs, let's round up and start one!!

i just have a problem with "clubs per se. I'm all for protege guys getting together and hanging out but it goes way too far sometimes....for an example of what I mean...check out my "off topic" thread "What Crap Is This?!"

Ahh. Point taken. I like hanging out with people who love cars the way I do. The car clubs around here are, as you described. YOU MUST ATTEND, YOU MUST MODIFY, YOU MUST BLAH,BLAH,BLAH. My 02 pro is the first Mazda (50th car) I have ever owned, and I love it. I also throughly enjoy this site.

good to hear! We enjoy having new members!

My take on car clubs is that it should just be a group of people who own a certain car who want to ang out together or attend an event together to make a stronger showing for the overall car. Sadly, this is not what most import car "clubs" are.....they are more like car "gangs". People have to "represent" and other stupid terms.

I saw people on the other forum mentioning how they were going to have to "compete against each other" at NOPI...WTH??? It's a stupid car show. Just show up, clean your car up and see if you come home with a trophy. Do these people honestly think that anyone gives a crap whose clique has the most "peeps representin'??"

I've tried to get a group of alabama guys together....the extent of it is....hey this is where I live and this is my phone number. Come over if you want to play Sega GT or go to the races with me on the weekend.

This whole nomintaing people and crap is just plain stupid. It's like when I was kid (9-11) and wanted to run my own "video game code" business....I had a friend of mine be the treasurer. It was cool for about 2 months then I realized how lame it was. Why can't these guys see that when I could at 11yrs old??

Valid point, and that is exactly my concern. Why are you dinks judging my car??? I built it the way I want, not so you will "accept" me for doing "2 mods a month". Get real. Sorry I have a wife and kids to support, and the house payment is more important than buying a wet nitrous kit to stay in the club.

agreed Bwhite. Some people just like to get together and talk about their cars not show everyone why their eye-ball deep in debt at car shows.

personally I like to make my cars look slow but be fast. I find it more ammusing. Can't get a trophy for that at a show!

That is very true. We build alot of "sleepers" here. It's hard to make a some people understand you don't need 20's to get respect. Taking a car that you built for less than $10 grand to the track and walking the dog on a Z06 is alot more respectable than "look I did 16 mods this month." Good stuff!
