Protege5 Headlight Connector Wiring

so, i need a little help....

i'm trying to create a conversion harness for a protege5 owner, so that he can plug-n-play with es / sedan headlights. however, i don't have any idea on the polarity of the protege5 low beam connector.

can someone tell me which side is positive, and which side is ground? i'm including the attached picture of the connector for reference. on the sedan the left side is the positive, and the right is the low-beam ground. is the protege5 the same?

thanks.

Hey man, I went through this when I installed my HID's, and I figured out that the only way to determine which is hot is by using a multimeter--a voltmeter, basically.

The wires were colored differently on each of the connectors (left and right), so there's not way to say that black is ground and red is hot, for example.

Do you know how to use a voltmeter for this?

i would, but i don't have easy access to a protege5 to check. i looked again at the wiring diagram for the swap, and i determined it doesn't really matter which is which.
