Question Protege5 Newbie Questions

I just purchased my new Protege5 this past weekend and I have a quick question.....

Can you change the color of the gauge clusters? I hate the white.
If so where can I find them?

Can I change the back lighting from that aweful red color?

Thanks for any info. Other than those 2 things - I LOVE THIS CAR!!

Question How $$$ is it to do?

Has anyone done this? How expensive is it? I would like to change it to preferably the black background for the gauges w/ white writing and a blue light. And the red back light is YUCKY - how hard is it to change the back light from red to another color? Can the dealer do this? I'm not experienced w/ interior & electronics and I don't want to mess up the needles. Thank for any info!!!!!

Wow, cant say I've ever heard tha one before. The majority of the world wants the white clusters. Now, the red lights would just be preference. I personally think the red lighting is great. But the white back with black lettering is def. the way to go. There are plenty of people out there that would gladly break their needles (I dont think thats supposed to happen though) to get rid of their "ugly conventional stock black guages" & put some of these nice euro white style guages. You can also get some indiglo guages that will allow you to chance your colors. They are normally a 3 color deal I think. I've seen some that have 5 or more light choices. But these glow the whole guage the color you choose & are white by day. Look nice in some cars.

I guess more than anything - I would want the red light changed!! I hate red. But I can live w/ the white gauges. The indiglos are a kool idea - but w/ the red interior dash and accessorie lights it would look like a christmas tree inside the car w/ all the different colors. indiglo blue for everything would be PERFECT!!! HELP ME!!

Huh... most people like the red. Red (or shades thereof) is actually the best color to illuminate gauges with since its best on the eyes- thats why BMW uses it. At any rate- if you want to change the color of the gauges, it may not be as simple as changing the bulbs- I tried it in one of my old cars. The bulbs are actually clear with colored plastic caps. On top of that, the gauges, though the letters appeared white in daylight, are actually colored from behind. Therefore, changing the color of the bulbls may just change the shade of red- you may even end up with PINK! Probably the best thing to do is buy those indiglo gauges

Good luck with whatever you decide.
