Question about headlights

I am def. getting a 2002 protege Es in either july or august. I'm gonna get the altezza tail lights too. I'm a little curious about the headlights....are they just two parts? Bear with me, I dont know anything about cars. I want to have the side part clear. Do I have to get both head lights replaced? Thanks! Today is my birthday!

the headlllights are one piece so you would have to replace the headlights

Actually, you don't have to replace the headlights. It is possible to remove the headlights and open up the housing to take out the amber reflectors. Do a search for "reflector" and "remove" and you should find some helpful threads.

Yeah, that's something I didn't want to try either.

I had a guy at the shop do it for me...the labour was still cheaper than what one of the P5 headlights would've costed from Mazda (there are no aftermarket headlights with clear corners for the 01/02 models).
