Race time

I know some folk who drive their Rally cars to work every day.....they do have gas guzzling trucks as back ups though......I used my Miata Showroom Stock Race Car as a DD. When it munched a bearing I spent 3 weeks driving ye olde 68 Ford F100 to work. (I had just sold my street bike) Of course like most racers I'm not all there and find this acceptable.

I don't have to...I have 4 cars.
But seriously, how many DD Protege-members-from-around-the-world have full race cages in their cars? Probably none. Which is the point I'm trying to make. We are not on the SCCA or NASCAR or F1 race forums here. Most of us are just happy to sling cars around the track at our own pace. I certainly wouldn't want to do ANY wheel-to-wheel in a car that I'm making payments on.

Geez, are you still talking? What, you mean my Focus isn't a muscle car??
I guess if we were seriously getting into racing, not touring/lapping/driver education, then we'd pick up one of these:

So I'll see your Formula Mazda and raise you a D-sports racer. You are correct Formula Mazdas are a serious car. This is what I was racing a few years back Yamaha R1 powered. 2G's cornering and 3G's braking.

Well Beachbum there is this saying......tighten the nut behind the wheel. after you're track day you have probably found that any one of the intructors is able to go 4 or 5 seconds a lap faster than you in your car. So basicly keep driving your car the way it is for a few events. After that I would put some good quality tires on it ......not full DOT race rubber , yet , as race tires tend to allow you to get away with bad habits. Get something like Falken Azenis or Kumho's grippy "street" tire.
