ram air hood for G3-p5

A ram air hood is coming available from SLP Performance. These are the guys that made them for the Firebird and Camaro. This is a full one piece unit that integrates the baffels and scoop all to the existing air box. This would be a Must have for the Mazdaspeed cars. Ill post a pic and contact info tonight as I can get to it.

This is the best I've seen. One slick package. they are looking into getting groups buys going. I'll post more on prices tomorrow.

So if one has an intake, whether it be short ram or cold air, the hood would not do anything unless we had a stock intake?

I don't like it. I know the hood scoop thing has been used on many other cars, but I don't want to go around trying to be a WRX. I like the DGM ram air hood better.

Cost

Well all things aside its the first ive seen with the internal water baffels to keep it out of the engine. From what Ive seen you just need to keep the air box, you can custom a pipe from it to the intake like I have on mine. Then do a K&N Drop in and that should solve it.

Cost is 1295, but we can get a price break if there are 5 orders.

Almost double the price of a carbon fiber hood and $100 more than a carbon fiber hood with ram air. Seems a bit steep.

I think the design is so-so. It would be more interesting (and effective) if the scoop was farther forward on the hood. It would also be less like the WRX.

I think it would cost less to buy a scoop and have a shop install it. Cut a hole in the hood and graph on the new scoop.

I kind of like the scoop a bit bettter than the WRX because it's bit more understated, and the fact that it is so far back on the hood. I'd have to see it in detail however, ...
