Ramps for Oil Change

Hi,

I have a 01 ProES, which I generally love. As an engineer/geek, one of the things I typically like is doing as much maintenance as possible. (Usually this is just limited to oil changes, though).

Anyway, with the location of the filter on the 2.0, it requires drive up ramps for access. However, the ramps I currently own interfere with the bottom of the bumper/front air dam.

Has anyone encountered a good solution or commercially available product to overcome this. (I know that I can build ramp extensions, but I'm too lazy...)

Thanks

your local auto zone, advanced auto, or even K-mart has ramp extensions for $20.

I believe someone mentioned something about putting some 2x6 pieces of wood on the ground in front of the ramps... might want to give that a go. Also, if you do a search on "ramps", you'll probably find that thread.

two words - rhino ramps! I got a set for 50 clams CDN and I love them. No interferance problems at all with either my Protege or my (quite low) MR2. Best ramps on the market imo.

Yeah the extentions are nice. I too ran into that problem, as when I was trying to slide them under my 97 DX, they would not fit. Then I realized that the part of the parking lot I was doing it in was caving in, thus I needed to back up on a level surface. I know it might sound stupid, but I would make sure that front of the car is not facing down the hill, thus decreasing your bumper's ground clearence.

Here is a thread that I made about oil changes. Rhino Ramps are great, like Sir Nuke said, they come in yellow, but also black. I like the black because it hides dirt better

Thanks all -> I found the Rhino Ramps at the local AutoZone $30. (I might also try my local Wal Mart). But, now I am well on my way to changing my own oil again!

Are you talking about under my car, or the rims? I have cleaned my rims and body since then (lol) but not under the car. Which are you talking about?

The rims use to get very dirty, and I figured out why. I was using Black Magic Tire Shine spray. That **** gets all over your rims, and if you dont get it all off, its like a magnet for brake dust. I started using Black Magic Tire Gel, and it works great! Another thing I found of was putting a coat of wax on your rims keeps them looking nice for weeks
