Does a P5 need one? Think about it. We are a solid box over the rears - how much flex can there be? (As seen through the eyes of a structural engineer?)

Will it reduce understeer or increase it?

if we are talking about a rear strut bar it will do neither..It will stiffen the chassis, thus reducing chassis flex and improving steering response

I understand that but I've read some people talking about how their front strut tower brace stiffened the chassis but now they have more understeer. So would the extra stiffness in the rear translate into anything more? Of course, I also don't really get how there can be more understeer with better road grip. So yeah..........any additional thoughts?

The sedan does NOT need a rear strut tower bar because the chassis ties the towers together. This is not the case with the P5 because the hatchback construction results in less structural rigidity at these points. That's why a bar is recommended for the P5 but is not considered necessary for the sedan.

when you stiffen the chassis the car will respond better and handle better as long as your tires can handle it. if not you will get understeer/oversteer

thanks the gt spec looks good

related issue

Lately I've noticed a metal creaking sound when I drive over an uneven spot, like a driveway apron at an angle. I have a sedan. Is it because of colder weather? Is this normal or a problem with the suspension or something else??? My baby only has 33K miles.

Almost everyone here has complaints about that one, including myself. It's just the cold.
