Rear/sunroof glass problem

Rear/sunroof glass problem
The rear window and my sunroof have weird bloches on them. It almost looks like they are tinted with quarter size air bubbles all over. The bloches look kind of white colored. I haven't washed the rear or sunroof glass since I got my car so it can't be from washing them with something harmful. Has anybody else had this problem?
I am gonna have to stop by the dealership and have them look at it. I might go to a glass place first and have them look at it since the dealership is 50 miles away.

The spots are pretty uniform. They are about 1 inch apart from eachother.
And no I was not wearing sunglasses. They spots can only be seen if the sun hits the window right.
If I had my windows tinted would this be less noticable? lol I am just trying to make up excuses to get my windows tinted now.

it has nothing to do with the shatter proofness.
Haven't you noticed that your front windows do not exhibit that behaviour? =)
The glass is polarized to reduce glare (I think), which is why it is more obvious when looking thru polarized lenses. Otherwise, you can only see it when there is light shining on it from a certain angle and you are looking from a certain angle.
It's perfectly normal. Many cars have that.
It would probably be more noticeable when u tint. At least I find it more noticeable on other cars. I haven't tinted my windows yet.

"You can easily spot tempered safety glass in an automobile rear windows on a sunny day if you are wearing polarized sunglasses. Tilt your head 90 degrees or so and you will see a symmetrical pattern in the glass created during its tempering process. "
I knew I wasn't crazy.
The front glass is laminated glass...not tempered glass.

I stand corrected =).
Thanks, learn something new all the time =).
But technically, it was "shatter proofness" but you were more on the mark than I was =). It's so that it would shatter w/o making sharp edges/corners.
Which also makes me feel better when I am driving over broken glass from the aftermath of a car accident.

Thanks for the information. I'm glad its nothing to worry about.
Now I have to find some other excuse to tint the windows. 2-300 dollars is a lot of money for a 19 yr old. There aren't gonna be too many more warm sunny days here in Alaska so I'm just gonna wait and see in the spring.

I had the same thing - but on my front windows.
Almost an imperfect "checkerboard" pattern in the glass when the light hit it just the right way. It also seemed to be more visible on hot days - strange.
Anyway, I am happy to report that tinting the windows COMPLETELY solved it! I was nervous - I even complained to my dealer about the glass, and they told me to look at any other car on the lot - it was true, they all had the pattern. But once I tinted the windows, the blotchiness went away completely. I thought it might make it worse, but I never see it anymore.

Derman.
$200-300 to tint your windows. I would get another quote. I just got my windows tinted on all the windows but the front windsheild and it cost me $140 US. It was only 140 because we have the small triangle windows on the back doors. Otherwise it would have cost me $110.

I haven't gotten any quotes to have it done. I was told that a good one will cost around $200. The dealer offered it as a $350 option but thats what I would expect from a dealer. My dealer charges $70 to install mudflaps. I got them to do it for free though. But they said they couldn't charge less than an hours time for anything.
In the spring I am going to look more into having it done.
