roof rack inserts?

so here's my situation. i bought my p5 used, with 5K miles on it ($13K!). i'm absolutely in love with the car, never a complaint. my only thing is this... since i didnt get it from a mazda dealer and the previous owner elected not to leave them in the car, i do not have the roof rack inserts. i've been wanting to take off the crossbars since my first interstate trip in the car, as the road noise is horrific. granted, it can be hard to hear over my sound system, but still, i'd really like to take the bars off. so my question is, where can i get the inserts? i kinda dont want to talk to my mazda dealer, since they were absolutely convinced i was going to buy the car from them (as well i would have, had i not found this used one) and frankly, i dont really want to show my face around there if possible. if however that is the only place to go, then i'll just have to suck it up. in any case, how much should i expect to have to pay for the inserts, if anything? Thanks guys

Not sure where you'd find something like this outside of a dealer, but, if your only local mazda dealer is the one you don't want to go to, have you considered http://www.mazdastuff.com ?

They seem friendly enough. When I emailed them asking how hard it was to install the auto-dimming mirror, they offerred to fax the 14 page instruction manual to me.

Silver on Silver, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

you said that the previous owner neglected to leave them in the car....did you buy the car from an individual or from a LOT? if you got it from an individual just go back and ask them about them....

OTHERWISE.....a dealer is your only hope....and if you only have one local dealer...and you don't want to go there.......which you will need to sooner or later.....just remember the sales people really don't have anthing to do with the parts deaprtment.....

go to the parts department and order the pieces.....and as long as you are there....buy a few OEM oil filters too. :{D

GOOD suggestion doing a mail order from Mazdastuff.com....that is actually a dealer in Austin Texas and they are VERY helpful. I have delt with them myself.

Just take Sir Nukes advice and go to the dealer.

First of all, screw 'em.

Second of all, you only have to speak to the parts dept guy, not the salesmen, who won't ever know you were ever there.

And so what if they do? Just cuz you talk to them about buying a car doesn't mean you HAVE to buy it from them!!!

Call the dealer and get the price, then go down to the wrecking yard and see if they got any P5's that have been slightly damaged beyond repair with the inserts and work a deal with the guy or put them in your pocket and say they didn't have what you were looking for. Odds are you'll have a hard time finding a P5 banged up since their fairly new. Good luck!

You can also try sending these guys an email, or giving them a phone call:

www.mazdaofwooster.com - Mazda dealer that sells parts & accessories online and on eBay. I got some stuff from them a while back (auction), and they were great.

Or I will beat the $1 million price. Let the bidding begin at $900,000. J/k - welcome to the club!
