The dealer should have provided you with the pieces that fit in place of the rack.

You should have four flat pieces that install into the rail where the towers/base of the rack were located.

My dealer provided the pieces when I purchased the vehicle (San Diego, USA)
Yep our dealer left them in the trunk for us.

Go back to them and let them know you were missing your clips.

If you raise enough hell in front of other customers they will give you just about anything.Or arrest you.

the ultimate solution to the roof rack wind whistle is to take the damn thing off. I used to like how it looked but after keeping it off for a while it looks a lot better and theres no sound when u open the sun roof. Peace

about the clip cover things, mine were in the trunk too

Covering Roof Rack Holes

I have been dealing with the missing roof rack "caps" with my dealer for awhile. I picked up my P5 in Oakland CA, and the dealer did not give me these covers.

When I went back, they were going to charge me $122.00 for all four pieces! It's a Scam!

Everyone should have these peices that come with the rack. Check everywhere. If we can create enough of a pain with Mazda, maybe they can lean on the dealers.

I would like to take mine off, I think it looks better.

IMO.
Peace

Yeah that's the other thing we noticed. With the sunroof open or slid back it's very very quiet - quieter than my Civic

Question

Dump question here.. If you remove the roof rack in doing so will you scratch up the paint in the track area? I'd rather have some noise then have scratches leading to rust in time

I don't know how you could. I just removed mine about a week ago. The only thing you have to be careful of is when you have one nut out and your removing the other one. The bar tries to pull across your roof. It is easily avoided , just be aware of it. There is no paint in the track area that I remember. Its just a bolt on a track.

Here's a pic of mine with the rack removed and the caps in place.

At first I thought I would hate the look, but it becomes "invisible" after a while. No noise now, and it was a whole lot easier to brush snow off the roof this winter.

When I was installing the sunroof deflector, I took the rack off too. The decrease in wind noise has made driving the P5 much more pleasureable. Toughest part is finding a good place to store the removed parts.

For what it's worth, I'm glad Mazda Canada brings the P5s in without roof racks and makes ABS standard instead!

Correct, Canadian P5s come with ABS standard. And I think we would make better / more frequent use of it than you in Florida!
