Unhappy Shake Rattle, but no roll

I just bought my wife a 02 Pro5. She says there are a few things she has noticed that I have not had time to check out.

#1 She says the drivers door panel has a slight rattle while driving. If she touches the door panel it goes away and comes back once she lets go. I have no had a chance to ride with here, but I checked to see if one of the door pins where loose and found nothing. Does anyone have suggestions or better yet has anyone had this problem?

#2 The car also makes a loud clicking sound under the hood once the engine has been turned off for about 5-15 minutes (sounds like a relay). Any Suggestions.

Besides these two things, she loves the car so far. We are going to have the windows tinted next week and hope to put eibach springs on it soon.

Thank you for any help.

When I turn mine off I do hear the exhaust cooling off and metal makes a ticking sounds as it contracts a little. Might that be it?

That's what I tink it is going to be. I have not heard it yet, but my wife described it to sould like a relay. A new exhaust can also sound that way I told her. It is hard to keep up with all our toys and work 6 1/2 days a week. Time for a vacation.

Thank you for your post JJB!!

I feel comfortable to check it tommorrow

well I get the same #1 problem as yours....the door rattles a little, but not all the time....it only happens at certain times....hmmm next time I'm gonna try to remember the conditions that it happens in, but we have taken it to the dealer numerous times and they haven't done nething to fix it.
I was saying the hell with it, I'll just check it out myself when I install a new speaker system.

and I just think it might be the metal contracting as it cools for your 2nd problem, not sure though cuz i haven't noticed it at all on my pro, maybe something with the pro5s not sure hehe

I have the same rattle on the door. It seems to happen most when the sunroof is open and the windows are close. I think this may be because this creates a slight low pressure condition in the car which the windows and such are kinda "sucked in" a tad. I have had it happen with the sunroof closed, but only one or two times. It also seems to happen during semi hard left and turns, again probably causing the door panel to be pulled slightly to the inside of the car. This would reflect the fact that pushing ever so slightly on the panel causes the rattle to go away.

I plan to take the panel off sometime and check it, but I just haven't gotten around to it. I bet a bit of foam rubber tap or something in the right spot under the panel will fix this...

I posted a solution to the door rattle a while back. After I did mine it was good for about a week then it came back. I guess the foam strips I put in worked its way loose or maybe I didn't put it on the right spot. I still have to find time to take it apart again and fix it.

Search for door rattle if you want to see it.

the clicking could just be water condensing off the A/C and being evaporated by the block, just a thought.
