but that is if you are only trying to bang it in WITHOUT rev matching...
I have easily gotten it into first with rev matching... you just have to match the revs.... and it will pop into first EASILY!!!
k how bout trying it liek this... in first drive along until you are at 4500 RPM.... check what speed you are at....
now shift into second and speed up etc etc...
k now slow down to that speed in second or third (if u went all the way to third).... and blip the throttle to 4500RPM and shift into first.... if you did it right and u go into first just as it is at 4500RPM.... it will go in easily and with no problems
now the reason i used a high RPM like 4500RPM... was because this way you will know for sure that it is OVER 20kmph... and the lock is in place
maybe before blipping the throttle you can just try to shift into first WIHTOUT rev matching, and see if you hti the lock.... and you will.... then rev match it and u will see that u dont hit the lock...

i love you guys wording....a "lock"...it's called synchro mesh, and it's there so you can up shift and down shift WITHOUT damaging the gears....heel and toe and rev matching is for old style trannies and truckers,lol...try looking on howstuffworks.com...explains it all in detail

"Heel-Toe" but I would rather call it "Toe-Heel" because that is the real sequence of the action. Here is my 2 cent of advice.
In regards to synchro: macdaddyslomo is correct; however, Toe-Hell will reduce tranny wear, and helps your synchro's not work so hard. But Toe-Heel will waste more gas.......... so it is a trade-off, less tranny wear, but, waste more gas.
In regards to Toe-Heel: I do not recommend you practice this technique on your current car. Find a scrap car to practice this on. Toe-Heel is a very good skill and difficult to master. The reason I tell you to practice on a scrap car is because many people will cause major wear and tear to their tranny, clutch, gears, etc, etc.............
Why Toe-Heel?: ok, normal drivers do not need this skill, honestly. This skill is for the purpose of racing, in this day and age. Back in the days, it was mandatory, but not anymore, due to technological advances. You only Toe-Heel because you want your car to have perfect weight balance before entering a corner; also, you slow done much faster. The Main point of this technique is for the weight balance, and weight-control. This causes your car to corner at speeds you can not imagine, lol. Whether you are into drift or Grip Turns, this technique is essential.
Conclusion: You can be a good driver without this technique, but you can never be a good racer without this technique. All I can recommend if you are very enthusiastic about Toe-Heel is Practice, Practice, practice........

Heel and toe-ing is the best way to keep your transmission and clutch in good shape...it also allows you to have the engine at the right "speed" keeping the revs "up" and not heading
" down " when going into a corner (while downshifting ) and exiting that corner.
It is fairly easy on the P5 since the pedal placement is excellent and the gearshift is pretty accurate...Try it ...it is a ton of fun!!

Back to the original post - it's almost ALWAYS better to shift at high RPM if you're trying to go fast. It has to do with torque at the wheels, a function of rpm & gearing, which is what drives your acceleration.
You can do math on it with the torque curve & gear rations, but that was wwwaaaaayyyy back in college. I do still remember 2-pi-N-T over 33,000 (convert torque to HP).
