Angry Side View Mirror

12 Arial Red
First off. I just want to introduce myself since I am new to the board. My name is Tiffany, my friends call me T-Dizzle, lol, dont ask. I am proud to say I own a 99 Mazda Protege LX. There are no mods yet, but i am working on that.
Anyways, the reason for my post is, i walked out to my car to go to school right, and as i am walking up to my car i realize that someone had broken my side veiw mirror. I was like wtf! It was weird too, cuz the glass wasnt broken and the plastic wasn't cracked, scratched or anything. I think someone had done it intentionally because it was poppep up and dangling off so i pushed it back down so now it looks like its fine yet it swings back and forth when i drive. So i took my car down to the nearest auto body shop and they said it would be $300 to fix. I dont have that money. Does anybody kno where i could order a side view mirror for cheaper?? Help would be much appreciated.
Thanx Tiff

Welocme to the board - expect a formal one from our resident "welcome comittee" president, Sir Nuke soon....

Anyway - hit the junkyards! For sure you can find another mirror there for a few bucks. For reference, ask a body shop or Mazda dealer what other years of Protege used the same mirror - for sure it's not unique to the '99s - then you have more resources to look for a used mirror.

And if the mirrors from '99 were unpainted (black - were they?) you're in even more luck, cuz it won't matter what color the car is.

Good luck!

Thanx for the advice. Yea my mirrors arnt painted so thats a plus. But they thing is my parents are hella **** about everythig that happens to my car, they make sure its the best and they have to kno where it comes from and make sure its reliable, which is cool i guess, but thats makes stuff so much more expensive, and I have to pay for it!! lol

Well - it's just a mirror. Not much to "work" there - if it reflects light, it works, right?.

And if it's a power mirror, you can take yours off, drive your car to the junkyard and plug the *new* one in and make sure it functions.

I understand **** - but it's not like you're buying an engine at the junkyard.

Probably the most you're gonna need is a screwdriver. Usually there are some screws hidden behind a panel on the inside of the door. I wouldn't pay $300. I was quoted $133 for a manual mirror at the dealer today (but for a '93 model). $50 at the junkyard but the guy at the desk said they didn't have it (even though their website said they did).

The three MOUSE-keteers. Whoa - look out - they be "straight Ballin'". I'm a-scared.

And it looks like they got a great 3-for-1 deal at the local flea market for those "platinum" necklaces.

Kids today, I tell ya.
