squeaky seat.........
Does anyone else have a squeaky drivers seat? For some reason the springs in the drivers seat of my Protege5 squeak like an old couch. I'm thinking about squirting a shot of WD-40 into the seat somehow. If anyone else has had this problem and found a remedy for it please let me know.

the squeaky seat
hey how are you now? I had that problem with my 2000 se. The remedy was simple. At the next oil change bitch to the service department about how annoying it is and politely ask if they will look into it. My dealership did and it no longer squeaks. They also adjusted the door panel for good measure.

Ok, over the weekend I took a look at the seat in question and found that the squeak is not coming from inside. From what I could tell, on the side of the seat where the adjustment ***** for the lumbar suport, etc, that panel is rubbing on the trim at the bottom of the seat. I pulled up on it several times to try and bend it a little and it seamed to work. I could move all around in the seat and there was no more squeaking. However, I am not convinced as of yet that it won't reappear. So everyone with this problem go try what I did and let me know if it worked.

FOUND SOLUTION TO SQUEAKY SEAT
FOUND SOLUTION TO SQUEAKY SEAT
Have taken seat apart and found out that the seat has no springs, it just is one big piece of foam seating on a metal bottom piece. The problem is that the foam wraps around the metal bottom and when moving around the foam rubs on the metal making a squeaky sound. I just installed a large piece of material between foam and metal and the squeak is gone.

My seat used to move a few mm side to side too on sharp turns.
I took it to the service dept at my dealer and they told me they tightened it. The movement was gone, but after a month, it's moving again.
I'm gonna have to take it back again, but I'm afraid they're gonna try to use glue or something =P.
