Sunroof noise

Does anyone know how to decrease the sunroof noise in a p5?
I noticed that it's kinda loud, but i don't really want a deflector...looks weird. I found that a lot of the noise is coming from wind passing through the spring thingy...know what i'm talkin bout? I sound like a dumb@ss...sorry...just wanted to know

I wanted a wind deflector with my Pro after getting blown apart by the moonroof in my Honda Accord. Unfortunately, they were on backorder, so I took the car without it until they came in. The wind and noise with the moonroof open was not quite as bac as with my Honda, but was too much to be comfortable at anything over low to medium speeds.

I just got the wind deflector installed yesterday and it does make a tremendous difference with both the wind and wind noise. I know you didn't like the look of the deflector, but it is effective, and simple to install (two brackets that slip under the lip of the moonroof. The deflector screws to the two brackets from the top of the car.

Sometimes form and function do not exactly follow, and this may be a good example. On the bright side, you don't see the deflector from in the car very much, and it does provide a little bit of tint protection from the sun.

Did you find that the deflector also reduce noise when the moonroof is just vented open (popped up in the back)?

I also found the deflector to be very useful with the roof open...

Now, to answer the question above... with the deflector in place it reduced the noise in the vented position as well. It also no longer vents nearly as well as without the deflector.

I am going on the theory that since the air is directed over the area by the deflector it can not flow over the lip in the vent position and thus does not create sufficient airflow for it to do much good at all.

I agree about the tilt. I rarely use the tilt feature except to vent the car when parked. When driving, I open the roof all the way.

I did find myself checking to see if the moonroof was open after installing the deflector. It was so quiet and the wind was mild enough to be coming from the A/C vents on a low speed fan only operation.
