Sunroof wind deflector

Sunroof wind deflector
Who sells this the cheapest? I have seen them for as much as $55! I think that's crazy for what it is. Had one on my SE-R and got it for $29. If a clear one is made, I would love to have that so I can paint it white to match my car.
So, who has it the cheapest? Links---etc.
Thanks,
Curt B. Shumaker

well considering that these are dealer items, unless you can find someone selling theirs for some reason....a dealer is where you will find them...
http://www.mazdastuff.com/ is one place you can get one that is usually a bit cheaper than most dealers....they are selling them for $44. They are in Austin Texas.....and do mail order business..

You can also look for a "generic" deflecto by a company like VentShade. These are the stick-on type, and are usually cheaper than the factory models, and look jut as good.
BTW - you can pain he thing no matter what color it is! Smoke can be painted as easily as clear.

hmmm
Well, if it's like a bug guard that goes on a Ford Ranger, you can't paint a smoke one. You can paint the front of it and then deal with the paint chipping off from rocks. But if you paint it from the rear, it won't do a darn thing but make the inside of the guard that color. The outside will still be smoke. I have tried this.....clear is the way to go and it seems noone makes one for the car. The magent is OK, but not really what I want. Oh well, might be what I get---we'll see.
Thanks for the response though!

Ahh - now i understand why you want a clear one - painting the back of it would make mucho sense.
However, the moonroof deflector would take MUCH less abuse than a front-end deflector (like my bugshield), and chipping paint shouldn't be as much of an issue.
I wonder how hard it would be to mold your own plexi and make one yourself? Hmmmmm.......

I got my Mazda wind deflector when I bought my Protege. As I recall, the dealer cost is about $35, which is what I offered and paid for mine - installed.
It looks great and only took about 5 minutes to put on. If you can get one for the $44 mentioned in an earlier post, it would be a good buy.
I've seen them for about $50 for various cars. The aftermarket stickon deflectors probably work fine, but I'm cautious about sticking something to the paint. The factory model uses two clips on the ends of the moonroof to attach, and includes plastic stick on strips that go under the clips to avoid any paint damage.
After having the deflector, I'd never have another moonroof without one. Really cuts down on the noise and wind in the car.

mine came with one which i took off for two reasons...
1. too much dirt/grime accumulated behind it and was a hassle to clean and dry that area... after i took it off, there were black traces around the rubber which took quite a bit of elbow grease to get out...
2. imho, it looks better without it...
i'd be happy to sell it to anyone in the NJ/NY/CT area for a minimum charge... it's just sitting around collecting dust right now... don't ask me to ship it since it's not worth the trouble for me to pack it and ship it for a few bucks...
thanks,
tyr

Me
I'll buy it from you. You would have to ship it, but I would be willing to pay for it, obviously. Email me at shumax@yahoo.com with a price if you are interested.
Thanks!
